It certainly didn't "destroy millions of lives" in the balance-- Saddam was a prolific killer and war-monger who killed many many more Iraqis than Bush ever did. I supported the Patriot Act strongly, and in many respects I was wrong to do so. I underestimated the evil of government and the harm they could do, especially under the leadership of a gangster.
