Just wait until the first openly gay eagle scout applies to be a scoutmaster...

BOY SCOUTS APPROVE PLAN TO ACCEPT OPENLY GAY BOYS

Not quite. The Scouts effectively approved a plan to allow gays to serve at all levels, including in adult leadership.

How so?

This is how: the Boy Scouts will be unable to say no to a gay eagle scout who turns eighteen and applies to be a scoutmaster.

Imagine the New York Times lead story, showing the dejected young gay man, now eighteen, with all of his merit badges and awards on his sash, with the headline: "Now-- leave!".

The Scouts will not be able to argue coherently that a seventeen-year old gay scout is ok, but an eighteen year old gay scoutmaster is not. And they will be producing a steady stream of quite sympathetic upstanding young openly gay men who simply wish to continue to serve, who are being unceremoniously booted once they turn eighteen simply because of their sexual orientation.

Checkmate. There ain't no p.r. firm that can spin that.

It pisses me off that commentators and the Scouts themselves aren't making this obvious point.

Obviously the Scouts understand this, and it makes me wonder if the substantial gay adult leadership already in scouting is already calling the shots.

The door is wide open to the gay agenda, and it ain't just gay boys.

@KW: "The same catastrophe it has always caused? Where and when was that?"

      Here and now...

In February 2013, CDC published two analyses that provide an in-depth look at the severe human and economic burden of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the United States.

CDC’s new estimates show that there are about 20 million new infections in the United States each year, costing the American healthcare system
nearly $16 billion in direct medical costs alone...

CDC’s cost estimates reflect the lifetime direct medical cost per case of eight common STIs in the United States and do not include either indirect costs (e.g., loss of productivity) or intangible costs (e.g., pain and suffering) associated with many STIs. Including such costs would have resulted in a substantially higher estimated economic burden.

      --- CDC Fact Sheet

In comparison, the public health care cost of lung cancer is ~ $5B/yr.

Unfortunately for science, the gay lobby has successfully quashed legal means of doing good epidemiology. However, the CDC was able to obtain some estimates of the burden of STIs attributable to the gay community. For example,

In 2010, MSM [men who have sex with men] accounted for 67% of all P&S syphilis cases in 44 states and the District of Columbia that provided information about sex of sex partners.

      [More data here.]

When one considers the percentage of gay men in the population, the proportion of STIs and health care costs they incur on the nation is nothing short of a catastrophe. Were the tobacco companies as politically powerful as the gay lobby, cigarettes would be $0.10 a pack and sold in elementary schools.

    4. Doesn't 'openly gay' generally translate into 'sexually active'?
Isn't there age of consent issues here? This sounds like trouble waiting to happen.
How about we leave sex right out of kids clubs?

    6. KW, my state has its own LQGBT Health Department to deal with the "unique health issues" of the LGBT community. The reason they have "unique health issues" is because it's unhealthy. Other communities that have "unique health issues" include smokers, drug addicts, and the obese. That's because smoking, drugs, and overeating are bad for you. No one is afraid to tell these people to stop for their health, but for some reason we treat homosexuals with kiddie gloves. We take more of the taxpayers' hard-earned money to treat their diseases and yet know one is supposed to call it a disease-ridden lifestyle.

If you want to know about disease and degradation, have a look at the little black book, distributed by GLSEN to children. It even includes a section on gay bars. But don't worry, they aren't trying to recruit.

      http://www.massresistance.org/docs/issues/black_book/black_book_inside.html

Also, in case you didn't know--the homosexual movement's newest hero is a rapist named Kaitlyn Hunt who thinks she's the victim of "homophobia" because she can't sleep with fourteen year olds. So yes, they are after your children.

    8. "So, Crusader Rex, are you saying that you didn't know that you were heterosexual until the moment you actually started having sex?"

No, that is not what I am stating. But, I did not engage in sex of any sort while in scouts, cadets etc.
That is just not what it was about. Sex was not an issue. I was a child interested in childish things.
By the time I was interested in sex, I was actively pursuing relations with people I found attractive.
I had outgrown scouting and other boys clubs and my attentions where elsewhere.
What I am saying is that boy scouts and other such clubs for children should not promote being actively sexual to underage kids. That includes gay sex.
Nor should such a club be a venue for boys to sit about talking about their immature sexual desires. Also that if a little boy or teen is sexually active, that such behaviour is undesirable and often illegal. Grooming them should be illegal.
I am curious. How did you read that into my (rhetorical) questions? Was it the wording? Or is it verboten to define 'openly gay'?
Did I set off some sort of PC alert?
Perhaps you would be so good as to explain what 'openly gay' means in newspeak?

Because heterosexual teenage boys never try to sneak into a neighboring girl scout camp and try to have sex with girls. Whatever would their leaders do then?

Well now, that's a cute little story! I'm sure you didn't just make that up out of whole cloth. So where, exactly, are these neighboring Scout camps that schedule simultaneous events? I can't wait to read the details!

    4. I've never heard of a boy scout camp next to a girl scout camp so I think you're just making that crap up. But the point is that they are kept separate because people don't want their daughters camping with boys. No one calls them heterophobes or malephobes.

As Ilion said, a boy caught in the girls' tents would be disciplined and probably expelled, even if he wasn't putting the moves on the girls. That's kind of the same reason we don't want homosexual boys camping with "our" sons. (I don't have any sons, yet.)

It's the same reason we don't want boys showering in the girls' locker room. Our objection to homosexuals in the BSA is rational, your objection to our objection is emotional.

Not to worry, Ilion. It's just a fictional tale like hoo's professorship, KW's naval career, and Barack Obama's "autobiography" filled with "composite characters".

In fact, the canonical case is Rigoberta Menchú who actually won the Nobel Peace Prize for her moving "autobiography" describing the tortured childhood of a poor Guatemalan girl. Which turned out to be a total pack of lies:

The story of Rigoberta Menchú, a Quiché Mayan from Guatemala whose autobiography catapulted her to international fame, won her the Nobel Peace Prize and made her an international emblem of the dispossessed indigenous peoples of the Western Hemisphere and their attempt to rebel against the oppression of European conquerors, has now been exposed as a political fabrication, a tissue of lies. It is one of the greatest hoaxes of the 20th century.

      The Left is about lies.

    6. Georgie,

Your claim about Rigoberta Menchu (I actually hadn't heard about her until you mentioned her) isn't apparently completely true. Have a look at the Wikipedia article on her. Stoll claimed that she altered two claims in her book, but also conceded that she still deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.

Liberals aren't about lies. They're about looking at both sides and coming to a balanced judgement. I'm not certain about Roberta Menchu (I don't have the time to look for more references), so I don't have a personal opinion.

    7. The left is certainly about lies.

Enter James "Brielle" Goldani, homosexual activist and a man who insists that he's actually a woman.

      http://frontpagemag.com/2013/dgreenfield/drag-queens-horrifying-tale-of-gay-conversion-therapy-abuse-comes-from-ru-paul-movie/

He claimed that he was sent to a Christian camp in Ohio called True Directions that featured gay reperative therapy. He also claims he was subjected to electroshock therapy and forced vomiting.

As it turns out, his story is almost an exact facsimile of "But I'm a Cheerleader", a movie about gay reperative therapy. In all honesty, he may even believe that it happened to him due to a certain remoteness from reality. People who are as crazy as "Brielle" sometimes confuse movies with real life.

"Brielle" was the lead witness in hearings at the New Jersey state capital concerning a bill that would outlaw reperative therapy. In other words, the centerpiece of their case is a lie. The homosexual bullies want you to believe that there are scary Christian camps across the fruited plain (oops, dog whistle) where nice, well-meaning "born that way" homosexuals are being electrocuted by evil Christian bogeymen.

This is why we can't have an actual debate about anything with the left. Their favorite tactic is the sob story, and they never miss opportunity to fabricate one. I'll refer you to KW's story about the ship he was on with the saintly, thoughtful, and educated homosexuals who were tormented by the homophobic rednecks. Bullcrap. Or any liberal who tries to justify killing children with some ridiculous story of some eleven year old girl impregnanted by her father who is going to give birth to a quadrapalegic down syndrome baby and might die if she doesn't get an abortion. Or all of the mythical discrimination that women and minorities experience, which conveniently justifies counterbalancing discrimination in their favor.

    8. Bachfiend, there's a good chapter about her in Daniel Flynn's "Intellectual Morons."

Her lies were pretty substantial. Her primary lie was that she was a poor peasant girl. She most certainly wasn't. Also, her brother wasn't murdered by the army. He's still alive.

I finished Ken Miller's book about a week ago. It was okay.

backflow, the Wikipedia article is a whitewash (as many of them are). Wiki is a nice tool, but it's as susceptible to politics as any public common. Read the Salon article; they are a leftist-liberal rag you will probably enjoy.

And I agree: Rigoberta Menchú deserved the Nobel Peace Prize as much as Yasser Arafat, Kofi Annan, "Jimmah" Carter, the UN Peacekeeping Force (subsequently exposed as rapists in Sudan, Cote d'Ivoire, and Haiti), Al Gore, the IPCC, and Barack Obama. And, for Heaven's sake, the fucking EU.

The Nobel Peace Prize Committee is a gaggle of leftist gullitards. How do I know that? They said so:

At least the Nobel committee came clean this time. In awarding the peace prize to President Obama its chairman acknowledged that it did so because it agrees with and wants to promote his politics.
      --- Washington Post (9 Oct '09)

Which is why Robert Oppenheimer and Edward Teller never received the Peace prize they so richly deserved.

By the way, blinkfast, here's the report by that right-wing yellow sheet, the New York Times:

Using contacts provided by Dr. Stoll and others found independently, a reporter for The New York Times conducted several interviews here in early December that contradict Ms. Menchu's account. Relatives, neighbors, friends and former classmates of Rigoberta Menchu, including an older brother and half sister and four Roman Catholic nuns who educated and sheltered her, indicated that many of the main episodes related by Ms. Menchu have either been fabricated or seriously exaggerated.
      --- NYT 15 Dec 1998

You know what else I read in Wikipedia? The word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary! Really! Check it out!

    11. Georgie,

I took issue with your claim that Menchu's autobiography was a 'total pack of lies'. Some of it must have been true. Wikipedia isn't generally reliable, because if it makes errors, it gets edited. Or at least, objections are noted.

But I did state that I don't have an opinion, because I don't have the time nor the inclination to look for more references.
