There's an irony in the media's obsession (some of it justified) with Penn State's coach Joe Paterno's failure to report sexual abuse of boys by his colleague Jerry Sandusky when he was made aware of the abuse, and the media's relative whisper about a much much more egregious scandal-- a crime actually-- involving Planned Parenthood clinics concealing the identities of child rapists to protect their abortion-mill income.
From Steve Aden at LifeNews:
A fourteen year old Ohio girl is impregnated by her twenty-two year old soccer coach, a man that she and her parents trust. The coach knows that he needs to get this “problem” taken care of as quietly as possible since the pregnancy is now proof of his statutory rape – repeated statutory rape, in fact, that began almost a year earlier. He turns to Planned Parenthood and they don’t let him down.
With no questions asked, the Planned Parenthood clinic allows him to sign for the minor’s abortion in place of her mother and father and to speed up the process and perform the abortion quickly in violation of the state’s 24 hour waiting period. Planned Parenthood staffers don’t report the sexual abuse to the authorities either – leaving the coach with the opportunity to continue molesting his victim.
In another Ohio case, Planned Parenthood staffers failed to report a father’s sexual abuse of his thirteen-year-old daughter – resulting in his continued abuse of his daughter, Denise Fairbanks, for over another year. According to a staffer’s handwritten note, their policy is “don’t ask, don’t tell.”
Sadly, there is strong evidence that these are not isolated incidents, only examples of a Planned Parenthood policy of empowering sexual abuse of minors. Live Action investigations have revealed that Planned Parenthood clinics across the country have a similarly nonchalant approach to sexual abuse of young girls. Posing as a thirteen-year-old girl seeking an abortion due to intercourse with her thirty-one-year-old boyfriend, Lila Rose called a Bloomington, Indiana Planned Parenthood clinicand was encouraged to lie about her boyfriend’s age and to go out of state to skirt parental notification laws. Calls to Planned Parenthood clinicsin Indianapolis, Tucson, Phoenix, Memphis, Birmingham, Milwaukee, and Louisville revealed similar willingness to hide sexual abuse against children.Where's the outrage? Where are the soul-searching editorials? Where are the headlines, the candlelight vigils?
When the failure to protect children is that of Planned Parenthood, on a massive scale, the media response is... birds chirping.
Planned parenthood has a long record of
We are seeing a fascinating and deeply evil dynamic. Ingenious, really. The atheist left is fanatically publicizing sins that plague all sectors of our society-- sins such as child abuse-- and selectively using these evils to bash selective targets they've chosen to advance their agenda. Joe Paterno and the blue-collar conservative folks at Penn State get the third degree. The Catholic Church gets the third degree, despite the fact that child sexual assualt by public school employees is more common by orders of magnitude than assault by priests. How many scorching articles have you read about the sex abuse rot in our school system? Has the Secretary of Education been asked to publicly apologize for sexual assault by teachers, as the Pope is incessantly asked to apologize for assault by priests?
And Planned Parenthood, the darling of the atheist left, protects child rapists on a massive scale in order to increase profits. It gets a pass.
The hypocrisy of the media and the atheist left in the selective outrage against Joe Paterno-- a transparently good man with a lifetime of service and integrity who has transformed for the better the lives of thousands of young men and who for whatever reason made one very bad decision-- and the utter silence of the media and the atheist left on the decades-long organized aiding and abetting of child rape by Planned Parenthood-- is breathtaking.
An excellent contrast of the subjective values of both modern law and the hysteria regarding the 'protection' of our children, Doctor.
ReplyDeleteMary was probably 12 or 13 when God impregnated her, so by the standards of the absolute objective eternal morals of the Bible you have absolutely no reason to condemn child Fuckers. Don’t believe me? Ask the little boy diddlers of the Catholic Church.

ReplyDeleteYou're pushing the limits of my tolerance.
@KW
ReplyDeleteWhat a really despicable comment. I thought being that vulgar was impossible!
Anonymous (KW) has smugly perfected the art of drive by trolling, but his ability to comprehend "the absolute objective eternal morals of the Bible" seems to be sadly problematic, conflating historical variances in cultural standards with moral absolutes.
ReplyDeleteOver a hundred years ago, one of my grandmothers was married at thirteen, the other at sixteen (or seventeen). And no.....neither was a shotgun style wedding. Yet, such unions would not be allowed today. The point is, western cultural standards were influenced by Judeo-Christian morality, but they are not synonymous, nor is there an objective moral standard to define the absolute age for marriageability. Such an age of demarcation is largely defined by culture before it can be enshrined in law.
In the circumstances Dr. Egnor was describing, the proper age that a girl or woman can be married is not even the issue, which, as I have already discussed, is subject to the cultural norms and laws of the time. What is at issue is that in any society with at least a pretense of morality, adult males cannot take sexual advantage of females, and in particular, underage females.
In the specific cases Dr. Egnor cited, there was sexual exploitation and resulting pregnancies, which were dealt with in a manner that is in direct violation of existing law. He further stated that such atrocities were largely being ignored by the media and the atheist left. KW's malicious and ignorant comment only served to underscore the validity of Dr. E's case. - LE

ReplyDeleteBravo! KW got it in the kisser...
When I read comments from atheists, I cannot refrain myself from thinking that The Light Bearer has succeeded in corrupting them.
What's more disturbing is that atheists do not have the faintest idea of what's happening!
Egnor,
ReplyDeleteYou should be ashamed. The PP helps poor people and respects their privacy. Without the privacy many abused children wouldn't dare to ask for help. Yes, this may benefit some rapists, but can you honestly say that on balance the PP does more harm than good?
Compare that to the Catholic church. The people of PP do not rape children, but Catholic officials have raped children on a massive scale and this has been covered up by officials of the same organization, including the current pope. That pope should be in prison for the rest of his life instead of enjoying his diplomatic immunity.
There shouldn't be any need for an organization like PP if the US had the decency to look after its weakest citizens by having universal health care. The fact that they don't is evidence of the moral bankruptcy of the US society.
@troy:
ReplyDelete[You should be ashamed. The PP helps poor people and respects their privacy.]
PP has killed 20 million babies, nearly all poor. PP was founded as a eugenic organization.
[Without the privacy many abused children wouldn't dare to ask for help.]
That's right. If PP didn't protect their rapists, what would the kids do?
[Yes, this may benefit some rapists,]
All rapists concealed are benefitted by concealment.
[but can you honestly say that on balance the PP does more harm than good?]
PP is an evil organization, to the core.
[Compare that to the Catholic church.]
Compare the Body of Christ to America's Abortion Mill...
[The people of PP do not rape children]
So PP is the only organization in the world that has never employed anyone who has molested a child?
[but Catholic officials have raped children on a massive scale and this has been covered up by officials of the same organization, including the current pope.]
Sexual abuse in the Church is much less than it is in most other segments of society. The are less than 10 reports annually for crimes in the past several years. There are tens of thousands of reports of sexual abuse in schools annually.
[That pope should be in prison for the rest of his life instead of enjoying his diplomatic immunity.]
You'd love to see him in prison. Any pretext will do. Bigot.
[There shouldn't be any need for an organization like PP if the US had the decency to look after its weakest citizens by having universal health care. The fact that they don't is evidence of the moral bankruptcy of the US society]
How is abortion and contraception health care? Is being a child in the womb or being pregnant a disease?
Egnor,
ReplyDeleteYour premise is false. It's not just the mainstream media and the left who criticized Joe Paterno. Demands of his head on a platter came from the entire political spectrum. Here are some examples.
National Review: Penn State should fire Joe Paterno.
Townhall: Dead flies and the legacy of Joe Paterno.
Rick Santorum supports firing friend Joe Paterno.
Ross Douthat: The Devil and Joe Paterno.
There shouldn't be any need for an organization like PP if the US had the decency to look after its weakest citizens by having universal health care. The fact that they don't is evidence of the moral bankruptcy of the US society.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the old leftist "enact socialism or we'll kill the kids" gambit.
Nicely played!

ReplyDelete"When I read comments from atheists, I cannot refrain myself from thinking that The Light Bearer has succeeded in corrupting them...What's more disturbing is that atheists do not have the faintest idea of what's happening!"
I am reminded of a few lines from one of my favourite play/books, Marlowe's Dr Faustus.
(Faustus regarding sin)
" The reward of sin is death? That’s hard.
Si peccasse negamus, fallimur, et nulla est in nobis veritas.
If we say that we have no sin,
We deceive ourselves, and there’s no truth in us.
Why then belike we must sin,
And so consequently die.
Ay, we must die an everlasting death.
What doctrine call you this? Che sarà, sarà:
What will be, shall be! Divinity, adieu!"
This is the common modern argument against Pascal's wager. Not so modern, not so smart. Faustus to Mephistopholes after he WARNS Faustus of the pains of earthly and spiritual Hell.
"Think’st thou that Faustus is so fond to imagine
That after this life there is any pain?
Tush, these are trifles and mere old wives’ tales."
Whether the deception is of the self, or as a result of temptations... it is definitely beneficial to the forces that we commonly call 'Evil'.
I pray they have the strength and courage to see past the glow of man's achievements and their own arrogance the eternal light of our Lord God.

ReplyDelete[Ah, yes, the old wingnut "universal health care equals socialism" and "fetuses are children" chestnuts.]
1) Universal health care is socialism, obviously. We disagree as to whether that bit of socialism is good or bad. But it's socialism, obviously.
2) Fetuses are children, in the sense that they are young human beings. If they are not, what are they, biologically?
@oleg:
ReplyDelete[It's not just the mainstream media and the left who criticized Joe Paterno...]
You're right. Everyone criticized Joe Paterno.
How many on the atheist/left criticize PP with the same vigor? How many demand apologies/prosecution of Cecile Richards (President of PP), as they incessantly do for Pope Benedict?
Why the double standard?
The answer is simple, Mike. Conservatives are hell-bent on destroying Planned Parenthood. People like you are against not just abortion but even contraception. Trying to find a reasonable middle ground with you is impossible.
ReplyDelete@oleg:

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but demands to prosecute the Pope come from a radical fringe. This isn't a mainstream liberal idea.

And salt the earth where it stood.
[People like you are against not just abortion but even contraception.]
Both are manifestations of denial of the sanctity of life and the natural God-given link between sexuality, love, and having children.
[Trying to find a reasonable middle ground with you is impossible.]
Right. We should compromise with evil.
What's so funny? Do you have a hard imagining that the same person can hold mainstream views on some subjects and fringe views on others? Look in the mirror once in a while.
ReplyDeleteEgnor: Both are manifestations of denial of the sanctity of life and the natural God-given link between sexuality, love, and having children.
ReplyDeleteThere we go. You are far to the right from the mainstream on contraception.
Michael, will you be voting for Santorum in the GOP primaries?
ReplyDeleteIt's my understanding that he wants to give states the right to ban contraception. Right up your alley.
oleg:
ReplyDelete[Do you have a hard imagining that the same person can hold mainstream views on some subjects and fringe views on others?]
Oh. What exactly are Dawkins' mainstream views? That God doesn't exist? That religious education is child abuse? That people who don't accept Darwinism are stupid, uneducated, misinformed, or evil?
Remember, we're talking about Western mainstream, not the Soviet Union, Communist China, Khymer Cambodia, or North Korea.
@troy:
ReplyDeleteI really like Santorum. I'll vote for the person most likely to beat Obama, which is probably Romney.
Contraception is not protected by the Constitution, so of course the states have the right to ban it.
I strongly oppose contraception, although I'm not sure it should be made illegal. There are many things that I disagree with that I don't call the police about.
You atheists should try a little tolerance, too.
Dawkins's views on religion are extreme. His views on evolution are mainstream. Among biologists, anyway.
ReplyDeleteI really like Santorum. I'll vote for the person most likely to beat Obama, which is probably Romney.
ReplyDeleteSantorum is totally corrupt. How can you like someone like that?
I strongly oppose contraception, although I'm not sure it should be made illegal. There are many things that I disagree with that I don't call the police about.
Oh, you're not sure. So there's a good case to be made that it should be illegal?
Is it also immoral to withdraw before ejaculation? This ancient contraceptive technique is known in Dutch as "leaving the church before the singing starts".
All child molesters should be reported to the police and removed from contact with children, possibly removed from society altogether. No excuses. And if Planned Parenthood has failed to do this, they should suffer the consequences.
ReplyDeleteThat said, Planned Parenthood hasn't spent 2000 years preaching to people how they should conduct their personal and sex lives. Planned Parenthood hasn't set itself up as a global authority on morality.
It is interesting, and deeply ironic, when the federal judge is taking bribes - much more interesting than when the car salesman or commercial builder is taking bribes.
Similarly, it is much more interesting and ironic when child abuse is rampant in the global Catholic priesthood. Would you like a link to the Irish Rape Crisis Network?
Go ahead and stand on the fragile balcony of your glass house, Michael, and throw your stones. But only the willfully blind will fail to be amused by the irony and disgusted by your hypocrisy.
RickK:
ReplyDeleteWe can debate the relative contributions of the Catholic church and PP to human flourishing.
My point was about the hypocrisy of the media and the atheist left, which is self-evident.
