Mark Steyn:
Our Obamaguardians need to sift the phone and internet records of hundreds of millions of Americans, ostensibly looking for any evanescent snippet of furtive pre-terrorist behavior, yet they ignored two f*cking letters sent to our government from the Russian government telling us that Tsarnaev was a terrorist.
So much surveillance, to what end? Dead and maimed Bostonians?
It all makes sense of course if one concludes that the ubiquitous surveillance of Americans doesn't really have much to do with terrorism, except of the government kind, directed at Americans.
But you'd have to be paranoid to think that, right?
How did all these Tsarnaevs-in-waiting wind up living in the United States? They were let in by the government, and many of them were let in in the years since 9/11, when we were supposedly on permanent “orange alert.” The same bureaucracy that takes the terror threat so seriously that it needs the phone and Internet records of hundreds of millions of law-abiding persons would never dream of doing a little more pre-screening in its immigration system — by, say, according a graduate of a Yemeni madrassah a little more scrutiny than a Slovene or Fijian. The president has unilaterally suspended the immigration laws of the United States, and his attorney general prosecutes those states such as Arizona who remain quaintly attached to them. . . .
As for Major Hasan, who needs surveillance? He put “Soldier of Allah” on his business card and gave a PowerPoint presentation to his military colleagues on what he’d like to do to infidels — and nobody said a word, lest they got tied up in sensitivity-training hell for six months.

Clearly, Barack Obama hates America. He didn't sit in a Chicago church every Sunday listening to an America-hating "reverend" screech "God damn America" out of love for country or faith. He didn't keep company with famous domestic terrorists because of his fondness for the nation. He didn't run for President on a platform of making America a better place, he ran on a platform of making America a different place. And despite all the lies he told and voted he manufactured to get elected, he did keep that one promise. America today is a different place and rapidly becoming more different. And America is not going back to being the country it once was. The wistful pining for a replay of the Age of Reagan or Eisenhower is just so much wasted energy.
ReplyDeleteEgnor: "So much surveillance, to what end?"
Obviously, to enforce the rules of the New Regime. Big Brother is watching you, closely. Watching more closely than Orwell, at his most lugubrious, could ever have imagined.
By the way, Obama's hatred is in no way unusual. Progressives generally hate America. It's part of the ideology. And, of course, all of the foreign trolls who comment here hate America. Twenty-first century Progressivism is actually a pretty good IQ test: "Progressive ideology" = "bathwater IQ". Modern Progressives, being a bit slow on the uptake but vicious when cornered, need a productive "working class" to loot.
To that end, the federal government has exploded with new "law enforcement" agencies. EPA has a SWAT team. Even the Social Security Administration has a heavily-armed paramilitary organization. DHS has not only bought billions of rounds of hollowpoint ammunition, they can now deploy armored vehicles. In fact, DHS even procured a number of mine-resistant armor protected (MRAP) vehicles... for serving warrants. :-)
The DoJ, following hard on the heels of a release of five of the most dangerous terrorists on the planet, including two who are wanted by the UN for war crimes, is cranking up a
[T]ask force on domestic terrorism to try to expand efforts to stop violent attacks inside the U.S"...
Mr. Holder said in a statement, "we also must concern ourselves with the continued danger we face from individuals within our own borders who may be motivated by a variety of other causes, from antigovernment animus to racial prejudice.''

The regime is arming. Make of it what you will.
Well, it looks as though Egnor has kept part of his promise and has finally ceased posting threads on this blog.
ReplyDeleteIt appears he hasn't kept the other part of the promise in increasing his input to the Dishonesty Institute by adding his tripe to the tripe that's already published in EvolutionNews. No items so far that I can see. The last appears to be an old one about human 'tails' not being vestigial.
