"Good deeds do not require long statements; but when evil is done the whole art of oratory is employed as a screen for it. (Thucydides)"
Actually, Thucydides wasn't referring to abortion, but his aphorism fits the abortion debate to a tee.
What we see in the pro-abortion argument is a tsunami of sophistry-- the euphemism of "pro-choice" to describe the killing of a child who is denied the fundamental choice of life, idiot assertions that human embryos 'aren't really human beings', the unmoored insistence that "a woman has the right to control her own body" (she does, unless she is killing someone), analogies between being pregnant and being tethered to an elderly violinist on dialysis, the bizarre insistence that a procedure that isn't successful unless someone dies is "health care", and the chant that the primary method of femicide in the world today-- abortion-- is essential to protect women's rights (sex-selective abortion has killed 100 million girls in Asia over the past few decades).
Killing children in the womb is wrong. The elaborate oratory to the contrary is a screen for evil.
Well, some of the abortosophists have finally concluded that the public is beginning to see through the web of lies. Like the morphing of Global Warming into Climate Change when the globe failed to "Warm", and the morphing of Climate Change into Climate Disruption when the word "Change" failed to garner sufficient alarm to justify seizure of the energy economy by the same people who supervised the Haiti disaster, shrugged off rape committed by their so-called "Peacekeepers", and managed the money laundering racket called Food for Oil, a different tack is being adopted.
ReplyDeleteA perfect example is Antonia Senior's piece in the Times (UK), "Yes, abortion is killing. But it's the lesser evil."
Senior acknowledges that abortion is baby-killing. And, frankly Scarlett, she doesn't give a damn. Because...
Abortion would have been legal for millennia had it been men whose prospects and careers were put on sudden hold by an unexpected pregnancy.
It's about jobs, you see. And identity politics. Always, always the identity politics.
Here's the closing thought from her little column: "[Y]ou must be prepared to kill for it..."
"It", of course, being The Cause; i.e., the job and the identity politics.

It's a good thing President Bimbeaux McLightworker's cronies run the Department of Justice. This is about the most feckless, clownish gang of criminals I've ever seen. There's a Three Stooges movie in there somewhere.
Boggs, you're such an incredible bore. I bet you could bore a pregnant woman into having a 'spontaneous' abortion.
