I just thought of a new name for electronic voting

An Obama-orgy, from KSLA in Lousiana:

Walmart shelves in Springhill, Mansfield, cleared in EBT glitch
MANSFIELD, LA (KSLA) -
Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits.

The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, "It was worse than any black Friday" that he's ever seen.
Lynd explained the cards weren't showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn't press charges if she left the food.

Lynd says at 9 p.m., when the cards came back online and it was announced over the loud speaker, people just left their carts full of food in the aisles and left.
"Just about everything is gone, I've never seen it in that condition," said Mansfield Walmart customer Anthony Fuller.

Word gets out that the EBT cards have no limit, and within minutes America's "we are the change we have been waiting for" crowd are clearing the shelves into their shopping carts.

EBT, in case you were wondering, stands for Electronic Benefits Transfer. A tekkie name for welfare.

There's an irony here. The Obamavoters in the Walmart orgy were themselves purchased, using working people's money, to secure votes for our Democrat elites. Now the purchased Obamavoters are purchasing, using working people's money, as payment for their only work, which is voting for Democrats every couple of years.

Maybe we should call our new electronic voting system an EBT.

  1. Apparently people will cheat to get free stuff, but KW refuses to believe that anyone would ever cheat to elect a man who will give them free stuff.

Sounds like an Obamaphone flash mob. :-)

But Joey raises an interesting point...

According to eHow, this is how one obtains an EBT card:
    1) Complete and submit an application in person at the local welfare office.
    2) Attend the eligibility interview indicated on your appointment letter, with documents.
    3) Wait for a determination letter regarding your application.
    4) Spend money.

I take it that some of these EBT (food stamp) recipients are the same people who are allegedly incapable of obtaining picture ID from the DMV for voting?

Speaking of flash mobs and money, sometimes it's better to put a coin in the hat. Check this out. Joy!

  4. While the implicit promise of democracy is that it will lead to solidarity, prosperity, and liberty, it appears that quite the opposite is true--social conflict, runaway spending, and a tyrannical government.

Maybe it's time to move Beyond Democracy.

    1. That bogus report has been discredited. It turns out that recipients of public assistance almost never get, or even qualify for, all the benefits available.

If anything, the fact that you can get close to minimum wage by sitting on your ass is an argument to raise the minimum wage. Everybody that works for a paycheck would benefit.

  6. I hear you Troy. Louisiana is a red state after all. True or not, I have a suspicion that Egnor and his ilk are imagining a tide black people rolling into Wal-Mart to take advantage of the snafu.

Data from Syracuse University's Maxwell Poll:

Share of Recipients of each program that self-identified as supporters of Republican party in 2004-2007 Maxwell Poll:

    Gov. Subsidized Housing 12%
    Medicaid: 16%
    Food Stamps: 20%
    Unemployment Compensation: 21%
    Welfare or public assistance: 22%
    Disability benefits from government 25%

Sorry to have embarrassed you, Troi.

  8. Not the majority, but still substantial fractions, aren't they?

Demonizing people who rely welfare is a favorite pastime of the conservatives, even though there are quite a few conservatives among welfare recipients.

By the way, I believe it was you parroting the Krugtron claim that red states get the most government money.

That's correct as far as it goes, which is not very far. Serious people (like the Brookings Institution, a left-of-center think tank) who aren't primarily engaged in axe-grinding look at county-level data.

And the county-level data are here.

As you can see, the "very high" federal outlays on a county basis are a near-perfect overlay for the counties that voted for President Jeebus McLightworker in 2012.

    Bad parrot! Bad!

  11. Don't worry about embarrassing me, draft dodger. Old men afraid of death that convert to the church of child molesters are not really in a position to embarrass anyone but themselves.

But interesting poll you have there. I have another one. Among other things, it says that there is no difference between conservatives and liberals in "welfare" use.

Well, you must admit, we've had a somewhat different government since 2007. President Jeebus McLightworker has presided over the weakest recession in modern history, and the welfare, disability, and food stamp rolls are expanding rapidly. Income inequality is growing. Young people, women and minorities have, for once, truly been most severely affected.

The data is going to indicate sadly that when the Obama administration is over, black people will have lost ground in every single leading economic indicator category. On that regard, the president ought to be held responsible.

So whose side are you on, Troi?

Wall St is enjoying a boom, though, and banks are bigger and richer than ever. There's that to comfort the workforce dropouts.

And keep the hate coming. I bask in it. It's why I'm here!

Here's what the Pew REport actially says:

About one-in-five (22%) of Democrats say they had received food stamps compared with 10% of Republicans

about three in ten Democrats (31%) and about half as many Republicans (17%) say they or someone in their household has benefitted from the food stamp program

    "No difference"?

    Here's where your error is:

significant proportions of Democrats (60%) and Republicans (52%) say they have benefited from a major entitlement program at some point in their lives. So have nearly equal shares of self-identifying conservatives (57%), liberals (53%) and moderates (53%). The programs were Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare, unemployment benefits and food stamps.

You see, in order to get that equal representation, you needed to conflate programs for the elderly and disabled with welfare and food stamps. The folks at Pew weren't that ignorant. They break them out separately, as they should.

Gloating? I'm appalled. It's a national embarrassment, just like the Jeebuscare online experience.

The worst U.S. recession since World War II has also had the weakest recovery.

    Funny you 'overlooked' this part:

Self-described political conservatives were no more likely than liberals or moderates to have received food stamps (17% for each group), according to the survey.

    Hmm?

Your began this thread with "self-described Republican hicks". Now it's "political conservatives".

About one-in-five (22%) of Democrats say they had received food stamps compared with 10% of Republican

FYI: The US Democratic Party has a conservative branch. It's only natural you would be ignorant of that, but indignant when it's pointed out.

    Cheap trick no worky.

  17. Conservative Democrats are a rare breed. According to a Pew poll, only 6 percent of the US population identifies themselves as such. In contrast, 17 percent identify as conservative Republicans.

  18. Do we really always look at the negative side of this electronic voting system? I know that there are a number of flaws when it comes to this matter but I'm pretty sure positives could outweigh all the negatives. I still believe that electronic voting helps a lot in making a clean election and giving convenience to voters at the same time. Although there are those who still have doubts on this, I'm pretty sure one day they would appreciate what electronic voting can do.
