In Spain, violent atheists stormed a Christmas Mass and demanded free abortions:
There is a worldwide war on Christianity, most violent in the Middle East, but flaring up in many places. This should come as no surprise to us Christians: we are not of this world, and the world hates us, just as it hated Him.
To paraphrase Cardinal George: we will die in our beds, our successors will die in prison, and their successors will die as martyrs in the streets.

How sad it is to see these people claim the right to kill their own children!
ReplyDeleteBut in contrast, there is this.
ReplyDeleteSimply to visit and absorb this masterpiece by "God's Architect", Antoni Gaudi, is well worth a pilgrimage to Barcelona. Its majesty will make you weep.
Astonishingly beautiful. We need to tear down modernist atrocities and build these beautiful cathedrals.
DeleteThis segment from "60 Minutes" on Gaudi's masterpiece is outstanding. Just found it. Enjoy.
DeleteAdm:
DeleteThanks. Made my day! I love beautiful architecture, especially of a Christian sort.
What else would you do with the millions the sheep fork over? Feed the hungry? Ha.
Delete-KW
Modernism is not wrong and I value it just as much as the classical architecture. You are being really narrow-minded and elitist when it comes to art, sir. YAHWEH EL ELOHIM gave humans the right to express themselves in a variety of ways and modernist architecture like the Crystal Cathedral is just as beautiful as the classical cathedrals and it is just as beautiful as it in its own little way, sir.
DeleteAnother half-witted post, Dr. Egnor?
ReplyDeleteThe incident in Spain is hardly evidence of the purported global persecution of Christians. The good Christians in Sabadell weren't in any danger:
The Mass was interrupted by the disruption for fifteen minutes. Even before the arrival of the police the Mass attendees urged the vandals with their placards out of the church. Outside the church, abortion advocates continued with their chants.
Hoo
There surely are places where Christians are persecuted, the Middle East would be one of them. Atheists would be killed there outright, but I don't see you expressing concern about the danger atheists find themselves in.
DeleteBut suggesting that this 15-minute disruption of a mass makes the life of Christians dangerous in Catholic Spain is plain ol' stupid.
I think that you ought to take a break from your feverish postings, Mike. You come across as an idiot.
Hoo
Bullshit, Michael. Here is a Reuters report.
DeleteIn 13 countries around the world, all of them Muslim, people who openly espouse atheism or reject the official state religion of Islam face execution under the law, according to a detailed study issued on Tuesday.
Hoo
How many atheists have been executed for their atheism?
DeleteAnonymous, you are wrong about atheists being murdered in Middle Eastern countries and let me tell you one main reason why that this is not so, sir. The biggest answer lies within four little words and they are called The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). Your argument, even with this group by itself, has been rendered as invalid.
DeleteMoving the goal posts, Mike? Having laws on the books that punish apostasy by death isn't a sign of persecution?
ReplyDeleteI can do the same. How many Christians were killed during that mass protest in Spain?
Hoo
[I can do the same. How many Christians were killed during that mass protest in Spain?]
ReplyDeleteDo you mean the Spanish Civil War? Christians killed by atheists included 13 Bishops, 4,172 priests and seminarians, 2,364 monks and friars, and 283 nuns.
I also googled "discrimination against atheists".
I'm still laughing.
How about this, Hoo:
DeleteName one atheist in history who was executed/murdered/martyred because of his atheism.
One.
Sure.
DeleteLet's start at the beginning. Atheists first appeared in the West at the end of the seventeenth century.
Here is Kazimierz Łyszczyński, a Polish nobleman. In 1689 he was tried and executed for having written ergo non est Deus on the margins of a theological tractate.
Hoo
The RCC has murdered countless atheists and other 'heretics'.
Delete"Saint" Thomas Aquinas suggested that they should be burned - preferably alive. And so they were. Nice guy this hero of Egnor.
Hoo:
DeleteI concede the point. One atheist, 325 years ago.
Any other atheist martyrs? You've got a lot of catching up to do. Currently there are 7000-8000 Christians killed for their faith each year.
The numbers for the 20th century are debatable, but are certainly in the hundreds of thousands and probably millions.
As I said, no group has been subjected to less violent persecution than atheists, and no group has caused more violent persecution than atheists.
Any other atheist martyrs? You've got a lot of catching up to do. Currently there are 7000-8000 Christians killed for their faith each year.
DeleteThose 7000-8000 Christians were killed by other religious lunatics. When they can, the Christians repay in kind. See Central African Republic.
A random atheist is far less likely to be a killer or a child rapist than a random theist.
troy:
DeleteThe vast majority of Christians killed for their faith in the past century were killed by atheists (communists).
Why do you have such trouble dealing with the simple facts.
Egnor: I concede the point. One atheist, 325 years ago.
DeleteNew goal posts, Mike? I can give you more examples, but what's the point? Atheists are small in numbers even today, in the West at least, and in the Middle East. You have to look in terms of percentages to make meaningful comparisons.
As to the Commies, they killed Christians and atheists alike, so this move won't work.
You have not responded to my point that these days atheism is punishable by death in 13 countries. 7 US states ban atheists from holding public office. Unlike your phony war on Christmas., this is real, not imaginary discrimination.
Hoo
One in 325 years. You don't need percentages.
DeleteOh, we can continue if you insist. Let's return to the present.
DeleteIn 2004, Arthur Shelton, a self described Christian and Eagle Scout, murdered his friend and roommate, Larry Hooper, because Hooper didn’t believe in God.
Link
Anon:
DeleteYou're kidding, right? You're calling that martyrdom?
Hooper was killed because of his beliefs, wasn't he?
DeleteHoo
1.Hoo
ReplyDelete*Atheists are small in numbers even today, *
No wonder, it's such a strange worldview.
------
2. I grew up in Communist country , if someone wants stories on Christian persecution I can help.

3. About the freaks in the video demanding free children killing. That may happen in Spain or other parts of wishy washy stinking European Union. In my ol' kontry they would deal with freaks with a little old fashion beating.
In your ol' kontry, Eugen, they now put atheists in jail for disrupting a church service. Remember Pussy Riot?
DeleteHoo
I'm from Croatia. Pussy Riot were drunk hooligans causing public nuisance and their music sucks. By the way Russian girls can drink you under the table any day, trust me.
DeleteOh, I know Russian girls perhaps even better than you do, Eugen. So I will note that you side with Putin on this (putting a young mother away for two years) and we can move on.
DeleteHoo
The bigotry of the atheists in the video is apparent. They sneer at what others hold sacred. What they don't understand (evil never does) is that such behavior will muster three or four enemies for every recruit.
ReplyDeleteI really hope I am not around for the blowback.
This incident, Hoo and the rest of you atheists, is to the future what Kristallnacht was to the Holocaust. A harbinger. A lot of very bad stuff is on the way. Al Queda is NOT 'on the run'. The apocalyptic suicide culture in Teheran is going to get their nukes. And the Church is under assault by servants of Evil. When these servants of Evil gain full access to the levers of Power we will then see their hate flower.
ReplyDeleteThis small protest - where nobody got hurt - is somehow equivalent to a nationwide pogrom where Jews were assaulted and murdered, their property destroyed?
DeleteAnd I might add, perpetrated, among others, by the good Catholic churchgoers of Germany. Hmm?
You're a brainwashed nutcase, Davey-boy.
