Global warming makes even Germans funny

From James Delingpole:

GERMANY DISCOVERS SENSE OF HUMOUR, LOSES FAITH IN GREEN ENERGY

The video is very funny-- and they're Germans!

People are catching on to the hoax.

    From the op-ed piece...
ludicrous solar panels [are] now found on every other roof (in a country not exactly known for its sunshine) - which, as even Germany's former Godfather of Green Professor Fritz Vahrenholt has now conceded, are the wrong solution to the wrong problem.

The Germans should have followed Secretary of Energy Chu's advice to paint their roofs white and invent whiter asphalt.

It's so hard to know which climatoon to believe!

But we know for sure that global warming causes drunk tourism. Even the trees are getting drunk.

Care to explain how your tiny little mind managed to make you think that this latest link is even 'off topic'. i know you're rarely 'on topic', but this one is so far out there, I'm surprised you actually live in the same world. Are you on drugs?

  4. Global warming isn't a hoax. Senile old fart's two linked articles demonstrate that it's happening. The 'drunken trees' are due to the melting of the permafrost. The drunken tycoon being able to sail into the Arctic to observe the aurora borealis is also due to icecap melting and the Arctic being relatively ice free.

Delingpole isn't a reputable source. Nor is Breitbart.com. Anyway - PM Tony Abbott isn't certain to have Australia's carbon price abolished. It's been rejected by the Senate once already, and might be rejected again come July when the makeup of the Senate changes - including 3 new Palmer United Party senators forming a large part of the deciding votes in the Senate.

Abbott pretends to take global warming seriously and claims to be committed to a 5% reduction in emissions by 2020 by spending several billion dollars in Direct Action to pay carbon dioxide emitters to reduce their emissions.

Palmer agrees with the economists and says Direct Action is a joke, and will direct his senators to vote against it.

    1. Pepe,

You're still an idiot. You're still parroting the bullshit that only inputs of CO2 into the atmosphere counts.

Natural inputs of CO2 into the atmosphere are balanced by natural removal of CO2 from the atmosphere.

Humans are adding 30 billion tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, mainly by the burning of fossil fuels, which is not balanced by any other human activity, causing atmospheric CO2 levels to increase by around 3 ppmv, which is the cause of the global warming.

I'll repeat - human activities are increasing atmospheric CO2 levels and causing global warming.

belchfest: "increasing atmospheric CO2 levels and causing global warming."

Suppose you're right (I know, that's a stretch, but just for the sake of argument).

So what? I like warm weather. Most people do. If you don't, bite the bologna, my leetle bolshevik.

I'll light a patio heater in your honor.

(Together on the "Old McDonald Had a Farm" theme)

      Humans are increasing CO2
      E-I-E-I-O.

      And CO2 causes hot spells
      E-I-E-I-O.

      With hot spells here,
      And hot spells there,
Hot spells here, hot spells there,
      Hot spells everywhere

      Humans are increasing CO2
      E-I-E-I-O.

    4. Senile old fart,

Most people prefer warm weather? You've just demonstrated your hypocrisy. You're only considering the people you know - probably just fellow Americans in your community in Illinois.

How do you know that the poor living in hot tropical countries want a warmer climate so that you don't have to use your patio heater (an obscenity if ever there was one - ever heard of putting on some warm clothing if you want to sit outside?)

belchfest: "You're only considering the people you know - probably just fellow Americans in your community in Illinois."

As usual, you've just demonstrated your ignorance, belchfest. The migration of Americans from cold to warm climes has been huge and ongoing for years, with Florida, Texas, and Arizona as the main beneficiaries. Of course, there's also a political aspect to that as well. They're escaping the taxes and regulations of the petty bolshevik gangsters that run the maladaptive regimes in northeast and north central states. But climate is a major factor as well.

And I don't live in Illinois, thank Heaven. I did live there two years, in the dystopia of what is called "Chicagoland". I couldn't wait to move. And did. Cold as hell and a tax nightmare. I wouldn't piss on Illinois. In fact, Gallup just published a survey showing that Illinoisans are the folks most likely to think their state sucks. After all, that's where Jeebus McLightworker (aka BO, the imPOTUS, not the dog) got his political start under the watchful eye of wealthy, Progressive, Chicago slumlords.

BTW... I don't need a patio heater. It's 28C outside at this moment. I lit it just for you, in your honor, my leetle bolshevik trustfunder buddy.

    6. Senile old fart,

It's still just Americans. America isn't the world. Americans make up less than 5% of the global population and use 25% of the global resources.

Fairness and avoiding excessive inequality aren't Christian values, are they? No wait, they are. Pope Francis would disagree with you.

Any anyway. I'm not a Bolshevik. I'll put my capital against your capital any day. I own too many bank shares to be a Bolshevik (I'd probably be the first against the wall when the revolution comes, to paraphrase Douglas Adams).

  6. I think many people like Egnor (otherwise smart people warped by Christianity) primarily reject climate science because they recognize how science undermines religion and they concoct theories of vast conspiracies to explain away what scientists have to say. Conservatives have come to hate scientists, and are loath to agree with them about anything beyond the most mundane and obvious. Throw in the millions of dollars in sponsorships paid to conservative media figures like Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck, by groups that shill for big oil like FreedomWorks and the Heritage foundation, and you have the perfect little hate cocktail to dull the wits of otherwise smart people. Their faith is a flaw that allows them to be taken advantage of by big oil.

    2. I don't "reject" science. I reject fraud, hysteria, and hoaxes. To reject eugenics or population control hysteria or DDT hysteria or global cooling/global warming/climate change/climate instability is merely to reject junk science and outright fraud, not in any way to reject real science.

The real scientists are the ones who disdain bad science.

Global warming is a political and ideological and financial agenda, that uses science as a vehicle, to the disgrace of scientists who collaborate and defend it.

    3. You label a "fraud" everyone you disagree with.

    4. You do reject some science outright, specifically, evolution and inflationary cosmology. When it comes to climate change science you simply relabel it fraud before rejecting it.

    5. KW,

Not true. If Egnor doesn't understand something, such as inflationary cosmology or quantum physics, but thinks that it might support his worldview, he gives it tacit support.

He just can't conceive how climate science can ever be consistent with his delusion that God has set up a world that will forever be benign to humans. Despite there being catastrophic climate change many times in the past. And the certainty that there will be catastrophic climate change many times in the future too. There's nothing special about today.

    6. I do believe he’s rejected and mocked the idea of the multiverse and the anthropic reasoning for fine tuning that the multiverse allows, both a natural consequence of inflationary cosmology. I wouldn’t call that tacit support.

      2. Do you also mean science undermines belief in God?

  7. Bach, stick with Darwinism as a cause. That one is easier to make up stories for without having to actually deal with evidence. You've lost on Global Warming because it's too easy to demonstrate its absurdity. It's almost May and the Great Lakes are still frozen. BTW, did they ever extract the loons who got themselves stuck in the Antarctic ice during the last Antarctic summer?

    1. Big Rich,

America isn't the world, despite what Americans claim. The Earth is warming. It doesn't mean that insignificant parts of it mightn't be cold at times owing to the weather.

    2. Alaska had a very warm winter. It was raining in Alaska while it was snowing in Georgia. There's reason to call it Climate Change.

  8. Yes, there is a reason they changed it to Climate Change -- so no matter what happened they could claim it supported a warming planet. Like Darwinism, it is beyond falsification except that with Climate Change, they still claim that cold weather is the result of warming which for people who don't have an agenda, is lunacy especially when they can see for themselves (thanks to alternative media) incidents like the global warming explorers getting stuck in the ice along with several ice breakers in the Antarctic SUMMER when the ice is normally limited or gone. There have been hundreds of events like this all over the world since Global Warming became the crisis a la carte. Yes, not every spot on earth follows the same weather pattern at exactly the same time period -- duh! Like I said, find another cause celeb -- you've lost this one..

    1. Big Rich,

You do know the difference between 'weather' and 'climate' don't you? Perhaps you don't.

'Global warming' is also 'climate change' by definition. I use 'global warming' to describe what's happening now. The climate has 'changed' many times in the past. It will in the future. What's happening now is nothing special - except we're causing the increasing greenhouse gases instead of it occurring naturally.

Chris Turney's expedition to the Antarctic was trapped in ice in late December. If you've ever seen a block of ice on a hot pavement in the middle of Summer, you'd realise that ice takes a long time to melt.

Antarctic sea ice reaches its minimum in late Summer. The ship was trapped in sea ice because of the weather - strong southerly winds blew the ice around the ship, and the coldness of the winds also caused the surface water to freeze too.

  9. Thanks for that explanation of ice melting, Bach. Who knew? I thought ice just disappeared when the temps went over 32 degrees. One question -- how come during the first expedition 100 years before -- there was no ice? The pictures show the Antarctic almost ice free and yet in the follow up expedition they get stuck in the ice 100 miles from where the first expedition stopped? Oops! Oh well, at least it's warmer now, right. Opps again, 2014 is possibly the coldest spring on record.

Like I said, Bach, find a new cause. This one continues to make its proponents look very very stupid and with each passing event that doesn't fit the narrative, they twist logic into a pretzel to hang on to the fantasy.

    1. Big Rich,

The expedition 100 years ago went where the ice wasn't. Mawson had plans where he wanted to site his three bases. Scott ruined one by taking that one. His other two planned sites were inaccessible because of the ice - and the distribution of ice depends on weather (ocean currents and winds).

His two bases were more separated than he wanted.

Chris Turney attempted to recreate Mawson's expedition by going where he went. He would have recreated Mawson's expedition better if he'd gone where the weather conditions allowed - as Mawson did.

Anyway. The Antarctic isn't as important for the Earth's climate as the Arctic. The Antarctic has been frozen for around 30 million years, and is fairly isolated, surrounded by an ocean with a circumpolar ocean current.

America has had a cold Spring? You do realise America isn't the world don't you? Australia (which is closer to the Antarctic) has had a very warm Autumn. Last month in Perth we had a 36 degree Celsius day.

You're doing a very good job of making AGW doubters look extremely stupid.
