Here's a photo from the Argus (SD) Leader. The Governor offered to staff the site with state workers, but the childish bunch of lackwits and Proglodytes in the White House wouldn't negotiate with him, either.
The state was told the cones were a safety precaution to help channel cars into viewing areas rather than to bar their entrance.
“I think reasonable people can disagree about that,” [Governor Daugaard's Chief of Staff] said.
Naturally the NPS would feel they have to lie. Even they are embarassed for the President.
However, the Park Service has been forced to remove the cones from the state highway a couple of times, and as of now I think they are gone.
Equally ridiculous is their attempt to close the ocean:
Fishing guides were notified this week that the 281-square-mile Biscayne National Park would be closed until further notice. Most of that park is comprised of water.
Everglades National Park also was closed, putting almost all of Florida Bay off limits. In an email, Park Superintendent Dan Kimball said the closure applies to fishing guides, kayakers and pleasure boaters. --- Miami Herald
Aides close to the escalating situation in the White House nursery report that a angry, red-faced President is holding his breath and is determined to throw ALL the toys out of the pram unless he gets his money from those mean old men in Congress!
Obama's loving this shutdown. As painful as possible, that's the way he likes it.
