Great NRA video at this link.
I am not yet a member. I think I'm gonna join. It's becoming increasingly obvious that armed citizens are necessary and are a bulwark against a creeping atheist/leftist totalitarianism.
God bless these defenders of the Second Amendment, which is the Amendment that preserves the rest of the Constitution.

This is nothing more than a thinly veiled threat to shoot atheists and leftists if the right doesn’t get their way. The Christian right looks more like the Taliban every day.
ReplyDelete-KW
Tell the Navy Seals they "look like the Taliban", ninja love god.
DeleteYou're lucky to be an anonymous troll.
Grandpa angry? Grandpa shoot KW?
DeleteHoo
If we don't get our way, KW? More like if you try to get your way.
DeleteTooter: "Grandpa angry?"
DeleteGrandpa like Popeye! Popeye fun toy, like Whack-A-Troll. Grandpa try help Popeye.
But Navy Seal not like be called Taliban, Tootle. You try. Tell story. Make video.
Then what's with the veiled threat to an "anonymous troll," my toothless tiger?
DeleteHoo
What "veiled threat" caused you to tremble, Tootles? Rip the veil away!!
DeleteAnd don't you feel lucky to be an anonymous troll? You seem to spend a lot of time at it. Or does someone make you do it?
"Tremble" with laughter, Gramps! You can't even shoot straight, so your half-assed attempt to threaten KW was a hilarious move.
DeleteGo on, tell us to get offa your lawn.
Hoo
What "veiled threat" caused you to tremble, Tootles? Rip the veil away.
DeleteAs I have already said, none. Your last remaining brain cell has failed, Gramps.
DeleteHoo
David, now your threatening violence if we even try to get our way? That’s even worse! We are going to try, through the ballot box and the courts. If we win there will you continue to threaten violence, or concede that in a democracy you don’t always get your way?
Delete-KW
What "veiled threat"?
DeleteTootles: "none"
Just as I thought.
Popeye: "now your threatening violence if we even try to get our way?"
DeleteNow you, Poploid?
The trolls are jittery today. "Threats" everywhere. Must be a disturbance in the Force.
Reading comprehension fail, yet again, Gramps.
DeleteYou did issue a veiled threat against KW but it didn't make me tremble. Simple logic, Gramps.
Try crosswords.
Hoo
Rip the veil away.
DeleteI'll take it as a tacit acknowledgment of your brain fart, Gramps.
DeleteHoo
Rip the veil away.
DeleteNo disagreement, then?
DeleteHoo
Rip the veil away.
DeleteGrandpa, I’ve known Navy Seals, and they’re not the type of men that go around making treats or kicking their fellow citizen’s asses for not agreeing with them on political issues. They’re professionals who have taken an oath to serve and protect us, unlike the cowardly pussies that have never served and cling to their guns like they’re the giant phallus they’ve always dreamed about.
Delete-KW
Heh, Gramps is stuck like a broken record.
DeleteNurse, check his vitals, just in case.
Hoo
Popeye the Ninja Love God: "Grandpa, I’ve known Navy Seals,"
DeleteI'm sure you have, Poploid. I'm sure you have.
And I know Superman. So there.
But to address your moronic point, there is a difference between "not agreeing on political issues" and sneeringly accusing someone of being like the Taliban who murdered a lot of fellow Seals.
It's a difference I'm sure you're aware of and it's a difference that serves as an impetus to your anonymous trolling like a "cowardly pussy". You are truly irony-impaired, troll.
By the way, trolls, your hero, President Bimbo McLIghtworker, outed the CIA Chief of Station in Kabul.
DeleteSeems brains run in the Proglodyte gene pool.
You idiot, I was in the Navy for 6 years and have worked in the defense industry ever since. Of course I’ve known Seals, from the forward on my High School soccer team, to the Program Manager in the office across the hall from me at this very moment.
DeleteBelieve me, If any of them were Christian culture warriors saying stupid shit like we need our guns to protect against Atheists I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to compare them to the Taliban. Your pussy stripes are really showing just by your suggesting that someone should be physically afraid to express their opinion because of a person’s military service.
Enjoy stroking your gun and say hi to Superman for me, loser.
-KW
Popeye: "I was in the Navy blah bloo blah know Seals yadda yadda"
DeletePops, here's the facts (or perhaps fax) for you:
"The Christian right looks more like the Taliban"
"If any [Navy Seals] were Christian culture warriors saying stupid shit"
Really?
Really?
Thank you. Try this, troll:
Meeting God Behind Enemy Lines: My Christian Testimony as A U.S. Navy Seal
"[You're] suggesting that someone should be physically afraid to express their opinion because of a person’s military service."
Show me anywhere I ever said that, troll.
But I will tell you this: if you're going to get in someone's face and accuse them of "look[ing] more like the Taliban every day" because they are Christian and a member of the NRA, be careful who you pick out. You'd be wise not to pick a genuine hero who knows the Taliban first-hand and put his life on the line to kill those lunatics before they kill little girls and American military personnel. Best do it as an anonymous troll, troll.
Your ignorance is astonishing:
SEALS for CHRIST is an Evangelistic Ministry and a "Ministry of Helps" Consisting of former and active duty members of the U.S. Navy’s elite Underwater Demolition Teams & SEAL TEAMS
There's a warning on that website: "IF you are a phony, fraud or wannabe, you will be exposed as such. This is done to protect the integrity and honor of the real Frogmen and SEALS who have given so much to this country."
Seals hate trolls, too.
Even the ladies at jezebel.com hate trolls. Money quote: "Trolls suck."
On internet trolls:
Delete(CNN) -- If you've ever complained that the trolls junking up online comment sections are a bunch of sadistic psychopaths, you might be onto something.
An online survey by a group of Canadian researchers suggests that Internet trolls are more likely than others to show signs of sadism, psychopathy and "Machiavellianism": a disregard for morality and tendency to manipulate or exploit others.
"It was sadism, however, that had the most robust associations with trolling of any of the personality measures," says an article by psychologists from the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and University of British Columbia.
Sick, aren't they? That's why I love hunting them , exposing them, and mocking them.
Popeye! Look out! here's one a them Seals that looks more like the Talleyban ever day! He's defendin' them ass-aught weppins.
DeleteYou go git him, Popper! Set 'im strait!
KW - Some things, son, are not just 'politics'. When you insist on going ahead with your plan to enslave us and reduce us to serfs, well, yeah, there will be violence. It will be the same thing which would happen if neoconfederates tried to re-enslave black folks. Some things you shouldn't do, KW.
DeleteWell, you should join. I've been a Life Member for years. I proudly display my NRA sticker on all our vehicles. The NRA is the largest grassroots organization in the world.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you this: but for the NRA, every single one of the estimated 270 million guns in civilian hands would have been bought only after tugging the forelock and asking the permission of some TSA-like government drone. If permission was granted, the government would tell you when you could buy a gun, from whom you could purchase it, how often you could purchase one, what kind you can have, and when you have enough. You name would be on a list, and if they changed their minds about what was "appropriate" for you to own, they would come and confiscate the ones they didn't like anymore. If you ever actually used your gun to protect your family, they would take it away and charge you with a felony. But for the NRA.
However, politics are just a part of what the NRA does. Founded in New York state in 1871 by two Union generals, the NRA trains thousands of police officers (and is the only national trainer of law enforcement officers), trains 750,000 civilian gun owners per year in gun safety and gun handling skills, sponsors sporting events, and much more. More than one million youngsters participate in NRA shooting sports events and affiliated programs.
I don't know if it's a good idea to join the NSA. For all people know they may be a front agency for the government, 'controlled opposition,' aggregating data on American gun owners. What happens if in the future the government demands intel?
ReplyDeleteWe (the NRA) are in cahoots with the Freemasons, and we demand free gasoline and the total, utter destruction of the Catholic Church, turning St Peter's into a strip joint. Submit, or we'll shoot you.
DeleteBy the way, that's NRA. You can't "join" the NSA.
Jesus H. Christ! This Michael person is a hilarious nutter. Wayne LaPierre is an agent of feddle gubmint! LOL
DeleteHoo
From what I have gleaned your suspicions about the NRA are valid.
DeleteAmerican supporters of the right to bear arms seem somewhat standoffish about the NRA because....well, you said it above.
Apparently, there is a less 'establishment' organisation that people can join.
Anyone seriously refuting your suggestions regarding the NRA could start by listing any very large national American political organisations that have NOT been infiltrated & corrupted by The Agenda.
John R.
From what I can glean of the relevant debate, your suspicions regarding the NRA are shared by many Americans.
DeleteAnyone wanting to seriously refute your claims could start by naming any large, nationally based American political organisation that has NOT been infiltrated and corrupted by The Agenda.
I'll probably regret asking this, but what's The Agenda?
DeleteAnd how many Americans is "many Americans"?
And by the way, how would one go about refuting Michael's claims? It's kinda tough to prove an invisible, undetectable enemy doesn't exist.
Don't worry, you won't regret asking.
DeleteJR
OK, I'll bite. What's The Agenda?
DeleteIt's not bait.
DeleteI don't want to bore myself typing something that doesn't interest you.
JR
The 'Agenda'. Wasn't that a mysterious super powerful killer conspiracy in the TV melodrama 'Revenge'?
DeleteDaily Truth™:
ReplyDeleteCass Sunstein, Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, discovers that indoctrination works:
New research, from Davide Cantoni of the University of Munich and several co-authors, shows that recent curricular reforms in China, explicitly designed to transform students’ political views, have mostly worked. The findings offer remarkable evidence about the potential influence of the high school curriculum on what students end up thinking ... They became more likely to count the Chinese political system as democratic.
Oh, good. We can build an assembly line for more Jeebus McLightworker voter drones.
I'd say this is the best argument I've ever seen for homeschooling or carefully selected private schooling. I'm sure Cass agrees. ;-)
Voice of dissent time.
ReplyDelete"We prohibit under anathema that murderous art of crossbowmen and archers, which is hateful to God, to be employed against Christians and Catholics from now on." - Pope Innocent II (Second Lateran Council)
And yet... assault weapons?
The main argument for the legal right to buy and own all varieties of dangerous weapons seems to be this: We, the populace, require guns in order to protect our lives and rights from the government, should the government become tyrannical.
This may have worked in 1789 when the playing field was even. The average American had the same caliber weapon (musket) as the military. Today the military has missiles, drones, F-16s. God knows what else. There is no way that a cadre of righteous gun owners can stand up to that. Additionally, this type of thinking fosters the libertarian mentality that "government is bad".
Gun control isn't enough to end violence, but it seems to be in line with the teachings of the Church throughout the ages.
'This may have worked in 1789 when the playing field was even. The average American had the same caliber weapon (musket) as the military.'
DeleteThat doesn't seem correct.
The decisive military weapon of the era was the cannon. American citizens had the right to 'bear arms' not necessarily to have their own detachment of cannon or warship etc
Today the military has missiles, drones, F-16s. God knows what else. There is no way that a cadre of righteous gun owners can stand up to that.
The concept of an armed citizenry surly does not conceive of pitched battles on designated battlefield with opposing armies with all the attendant military infrastructure of command & control etc ?
Instead it is preventative ie an armed citizenry, without Generals & a High Command etc would not have to face a fully fledged 'tyranny' as one would always be prevented in it's development by those very same armed citizens. educated, informed and free. That is your Republic.
'Additionally, this type of thinking fosters the libertarian mentality that "government is bad". '
So many Governments have obviously been 'bad' that your founding fathers included that possibility in their Constitution.
Surly it's pointless & dangerous to proceed with the assumption that government is not and cannot be 'bad'.?
'Gun control isn't enough to end violence, but it seems to be in line with the teachings of the Church throughout the ages.'
The Church has never taught that only the State should have the means to commit violence. Especially in view of the fact that 'the State' has often attempted to exterminate Christianity.
I cannot think of any examples of Christian communities anywhere in the world deciding to hand in their weapons because The Church instructed them that that was 'the Christian thing to do'.
Lots and lots of examples of different states demanding that citizens hand in their weapons though.
JR
I should add that your example of cross bows & archery are weapons that kill indiscriminately; not individual, specific attacks agains clearly identified individuals.
DeleteThe same logic that Iran's President uses to condemn atomic weapons btw ; that they kill indiscriminately and are therefore 'against Islam'.
Regards,
JR
Thanks for the reasoned response JR. I still stand at odds with the conservative party line - guns seem to do more harm than good and I'm very happy not owning one.
DeleteNo one, not even the most naive of liberals, would make the claim that government is not and cannot be a force of evil. One thing that shook me out of my former libertarian stupor was a deeper consideration of the government as an extension of human community, which is in turn an extension of the family - the fundamental unit of society.
This month's First Things has a nice article on the good of government. This attitude seems in line with classic conservatism and the platform of Lincoln and Roosevelt type Republicans. The libertarian attitude breeds a type of paranoid and conspiratorial thinking that distrusts government in a way the founding fathers never did.

'The libertarian attitude breeds a type of paranoid and conspiratorial thinking that distrusts government in a way the founding fathers never did. '
DeleteYes I agree with you and yet and yet......
The current political elite of Britain & America ARE crazy. It's not just the fast & Furious or the Obamacare exemptions for politically aligned companies and firms or the murderous wars of invasion or the listening to everybody's telephone calls or the aggressive promotion of homosexuality or the crazy provocation in the Ukraine in co-operation with the Neo-nazis or the......
With a governing class like this, who needs paranoid conspiracy theorists?

Some history of the NRA, which perhaps isn't widely known in these circles.
ReplyDeleteHow NRA’s true believers converted a marksmanship group into a mighty gun lobby
Hoo
Why is the NRA trying to deny our 2nd amendment rights by fighting against the sale of smart guns?
ReplyDeleteElectronics ALWAYS reliable, eh? When I need to shoot someone I want my weapon to function reliably. A mechanical escapement (trigger) does the job. No need to mess it up with fallible electronics. Like the temperature control in our Dodge van which decided that 'cooling' REALLY meant 'heating'. Just give me the switch (trigger). I'll provide the brain.
