Where was the Teleprompter when he needed it?

Leftie Andrew Sullivan live blogging:

10.29 pm. How is Obama's closing statement so fucking sad, confused and lame? He choked. He lost. He may even have lost the election tonight.

10.31 pm. Look: you know how much I love the guy, and you know how much of a high information viewer I am, and I can see the logic of some of Obama's meandering, weak, professorial arguments. But this was a disaster for the president for the key people he needs to reach, and his effete, wonkish lectures may have jolted a lot of independents into giving Romney a second look.
I watched parts of the debate, and Romney looked as good as I've ever seen him. Articulate, informed, confident. Obama was pretty bad-- disengaged, rambling, almost bored. Admittedly the President had a tough challenge: how do you defend a record like his?

Let's hope this convinces some of the (brain dead) undecideds to pull the lever for the guy for whom the presidency wouldn't be his first real job.

  1. I didn't see it but apparently even Obama's fan club is saying that it was a one-sided buttkicking. Excellent.

  2. It doesnt mean anything.

Bush looked like a baffoon in his debates and he still won.

  3. The consensus up this way is that Mr Obama came off as tired and arrogant - even telling the moderator to change the subject at one point. Mr Romney, on the other hand, seemed passionate and excited for the opportunity to present his ideas.

  4. Given that Romney's two big "points" were lies - that he wouldn't cut taxes for the rich and that he would make sure no one was denied health covered on the basis of preexisting conditions, it seems like a hollow "victory" for Romney.

Most of the debate was Romney talking vaguely about the budget and not actually saying how he would do any of the things he promised. Talking about cutting support for PBS, which accounts for 0.0012% of the budget, was just stupid and shows that he doesn't actually understand the federal budget at all.

Obama was boring in the debate. Romney looked like an ignorant buffoon.
