"This is going to be for schools what 9/11 was for airports"

Fox News interview.

Meagan Fox: "I have two kids. Now I suddenly want to see an armed police officer in the school... what would that take?"
Guest: "I think we just saw it".

We should have had armed security in every school after Columbine.

This is school safety's moment. We now have 20 dead little kids because of the liberal crusade to create gun-free zones. Stop bullsh*tting around with liberal gun control idiocy. It doesn't work. In fact, it makes things worse. It made things worse, in Newtown.

Protect the kids. Our kids matter more than liberal moral preening.

No. more. dead. schoolkids. Armed security in every school. Now.

  1. You're utterly insane. All those billions spent for security theater in airports have been completely wasted, and now you want to waste even more.

You forgot blame atheists and evolutionary biologists again.

It hasn't been wasted. We've had no more 9/11's. It is certainly effective, regardless of what one thinks about rights issues, hassles, etc.

And we've pissed away trillions of dollars on crap-- all sorts of pork spending projects, paying off political contributors, green energy scams, etc.

Protecting our kids is cheap, compared. We can borrow the money from China. You'd like that.

["You forgot blame atheists and evolutionary biologists again."'

      I'll get to that.

    2. I'll get to that.

I'm sure you will - anything to avoid confronting the actual problem.

Everybody with a brain is just laughing at you and your friends at Fox News - after they stop being appalled.

    3. Ya. You people "with a brain" left these kids without protection by your idiot moral posturing.

Connecticut has very strict gun control. They'd never think of letting security guards with guns in schools.

How are those "gun-free zones" workin' out for ya?

  2. Details begn to emerge. The killer's mom was one of those responsible gun enthusiasts, otherwise known as gun nuts. See this New York Post article: link. She had a substantial collection of guns and took her son to practice at gun ranges.

    This country is fucking insane.

    Hoo

  3. Apparently, this is one of the guns the killer used. According to Egnor, a simple hunting rifle.

    The poorly written second amendment:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It doesn't say what kinds of Arms, does it? So why is it OK to outlaw private possession of RPGs or heavy artillery but not the kind of military-style weapons that the killer used? Why could the killer's mother legally buy these kinds of weapons that are of no use except to efficiently kill as many people as possible in a short time?

    1. It's a semi-automatic rifle, like most hunting rifles. There are probably upwards of a hundred million semi-automatic rifles in the United States, with roughly the same capabilities as the civilian AR-15. The .223 Ruger is basically the same rifle, and is perhaps the most popular varmit rifle among hunters.

So tell us, troy: exactly what do you propose to do with the hundred million semi-automatic rifles in the US?

      Let's hear some moral preening.

And thanks for giving us gun-free zones in schools, where kids are defenseless.

The civilian AR 15 is not a "military-style weapon". Military rifles are automatic rifles. Our military does not use semi-automatic rifles like the modified AR 15 you linked for ordinary infantry soldiers. It is grossly inadequate for military use.

Most hunting rifles are semi-automatic. The civilian AR 15 is merely a hunting rifle with a stock and barrel design that looks a bit like a military rifle.

More liberal moral preening. "The gun is sooo evil. It's black and mean-looking! Let's make more gun-free zones where innocents can't be protected!"

The manufacturer of that gun has much less responsibility for these killings than do the liberal a**holes who ensured that those kids had no one to protect them in that school.

      Have some shame.

Let people turn them in unless they have a license to hunt. Failure to do so: heavy fine. That probably would have prevented the killer from easy access to his weapons.

Why thank me? I'm not a US citizen.

Of course the "civilian" AR 15 is a military-style weapon. It's for losers who can pretend to be soldiers.

Most hunting rifles are semi-automatic. The civilian AR 15 is merely a hunting rifle with a stock and barrel design that looks a bit like a military rifle.

Bullshit. Did you ever go hunting yourself? A good deer hunter needs just a single shot. I've shot deer with a bolt-action rifle. No need for semi-automatics at all.

You don't give a shit about kids. You're a hypocrite.

    5. If you need a semiautomatic weapon to shoot deer then you can't shoot straight. With 30 rounds in a cartridge and a muzzle velocity of 3000 ft/sec, it ain't no hunting weapon.

  4. "Armed security in every school. Now."

I think that's an emotional overreaction.

But, even if it isn't an overreaction, the problem is systemic -- our society has chosen death: we murder our children (*) by the millions (**), and we dope up those who survive the welcoming gauntlet, such that their minds – and their moral sensibilities – do not develop normally.

There are not enough “security officers” in the world to protect us, as individuals, from the self-destruction we, corporately, have chosen.

There are not enough “security officers” in the world to compel moral(ish) behavior from an immoral people.

    (*) And soon, our elders.

(**) Thankfully, so as not to offend the squeamishness of “liberals” and other leftists, we do it in decentralized “Women’s Health Centers”, from which the corpses are treated as medical waste, rather than in centralized gas chambers, from which the corpses are treated as corpses.
