From Bjorn Lomborg:
September 26 was a triumph for public relations. An organization called DARA launched a report called "Climate Vulnerability Monitor 2nd Edition. A Guide to the Cold Calculus of a Hot Planet." The study, sponsored by 20 countries, projected some astoundingly large impacts from climate change, both on the number of deaths and the economic impacts. The report has produced a media heyday for climate alarmism...
[With the DARA study] we have a study that inflated deaths by at least 12 times. We have a study that has inflated the costs by at least three times -- and probably much, much more. And we have a study that then suggests that to avoid this situation in 2030, we should employ policies that we know will have no measurable impact by 2030.
One could call such a study many things, but clearly not well done, truthful, or good policy advice...
Lomborg ('The Skeptical Environmentalist') is a level-headed guy who approaches environmentalist claims with the skepticism they deserve. If he had been around to be consulted on the DDT hysteria of the 1970's, 50 million malaria victims might be alive today.
Unlike global warming deaths, deaths from environmentalist policies actually happen-- in the tens of millions.
For those of you still naive enough to actually believe an environmentalist prediction, I caution you to consider the impact of this global warming holocaust on the 50 million climate refugees rendered homeless in 2010.
If he had been around to be consulted on the DDT hysteria of the 1970's, 50 million malaria victims might be alive today.
ReplyDeleteCommenters have patiently explained to you that this is a lie, with detailed references. Yet you shamelessly repeat it. I can only conclude you are a pathological liar who cares nothing at all for truth.
You're wrong.
DeleteThere is no debate that the environmentalist cabal has worked feverishly for four decades to ban DDT. It has been highly successful, both in banning it in the developed world and in suppressing the use of DDT in the developing world. That suppression has devastated malaria control efforts, and has cost at least 50 million lives.
You bastards have blood on your hands. I'll post on this in detail when I can get a moment from posting on all of the other shit you do.
That suppression has devastated malaria control efforts, and has cost at least 50 million lives.
ReplyDeleteThe pathological liar can only repeat lies, and feverishly look for any source - no matter how disreputable - to support his claims. The WHO, on the other hand, belies your crackpot fantasies.
Someone really interested in the truth would say, "Perhaps you're right. Maybe I was misled. I need to read more to be sure, since DDT is not my area of expertise." But the pathological liar is not interested in truth.
There is no debate that environmentalists have worked to ban DDT, and that the suppression of the use of DDT has cost millions of lives.
DeleteThe reason you lie about it is that you can't bear the truth-- the truth about what your fucking ideology has done to millions of innocents.
Michael,
DeleteCharming. I welcome you posting in depth on the malaria control program, and your putting forward the best argument you can. And to answer all the refutation you'll get instead of your ignoring comments as you usually do.
I was planning on ceasing commenting, or at least cutting down severely. You seem to be going for a record; 11 threads so far in October. Are you trying for your record of 142?
You know, this flurry of activity and desperate shoring up of shoddy arguments by Egnor looks to me like a last-ditch attempt to patch up his world view.
ReplyDeleteEgnor is not stupid. It's only a matter of time until Egnor finally realizes how badly he's been duped by Drudge and the Catholic church and the ID movement -- realizes that he's been getting his news and world-view from professional liars for years.
I predict an imminent serious emotional & intellectual meltdown, followed by a long period of re-assessment of his views, followed by evolution into a liberal. This is going to be fun to watch!
If the President's Science Advisor, John "Malthusman" Holdren, is right, 100 million deaths is not a disaster, it's a Good Start.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget the 50,000,000 or so abortions have been done in this country.
See, 100 million's not such a big deal after all.
