Belgium offers a two-for-one sale on lethal injection...

From Wesley Smith:

Twins Euthanized in Belgium

In just ten years, Belgium has trumped the culture of death in the Netherlands that took some thirty years to poisonously flower. For example, there has been a joint euthanasia of an elderly couple, which was celebrated by a Belgian bioethicist in a news report. Belgian doctors also brag about coupling voluntary euthanasia with consensual organ harvesting–particularly targeted at the disable who want to die because they have “good organs.” And now, twins have been killed in a joint euthanasia. From the Telegraph story:

Identical twins were killed by Belgian doctors last month in a unique mercy killing under Belgium’s euthanasia laws. The two men, 45, from the Antwerp region were both born deaf and sought euthanasia after finding that they would also soon go blind. The pair told doctors that they were unable to bear the thought of not being able to see each other again. The twin brothers had spent their entire lives together, sharing a flat and both working as cobblers. Doctors at Brussels University Hospital in Jette “euthanized” the two men by lethal injection on 14 December last year.

In a morally sane society, the death doctors would lose their licenses and be tried for homicide. But Belgium no longer fits that description.
But, I must say, after fighting against this issue for twenty years, I am not surprised. This is the simple logic of euthanasia consciousness. Once killing is seen as an answer to human suffering, the meaning of the term becomes very elastic and the killable caste, like the universe, never stops expanding.

"Doctors... euthanized the two men by lethal injection...".

Doctors?

No.

Doctors killers euthanized murdered the men by lethal injection.

I used to wonder: what ever happened to the Nazis? After all, there were millions of them in WWII, and Patton didn't get 'em all. We tried most of the big ones, but what happened to the millions of admirers, the quislings? How could such a malevolently vibrant ideology simply vanish?

They didn't vanish. Now, a couple of generations later, the spiritual heirs of the Nazi doctors are rising in Europe. They are even killing twins, one of Mengele's favorites. This is happening faster than I had imagined, and I'm a real Cassandra about this stuff.

  1. Here in America conservatives want to control your most private and personal decisions. They want to make it difficult to have consequence free sex by making birth control more difficult to get and limiting abortions, they pas laws that prevent gays from having the same type of relationships as strait people, and they want to ensure you get no say in when and how you die. Yet it’s these very same people that argue that it’s the left that wants to restrict liberty. Amazing.

[Here in America conservatives want to control your most private and personal decisions. They want to make it difficult to have consequence free sex by making birth control more difficult to get and limiting abortions,]

Birth control has been hard to get?

Babies in the womb are "consequences", not human beings?

[they pas laws that prevent gays from having the same type of relationships as strait people,]

Gays can have the same types of relationships as straight people. They can marry people of the opposite sex, which is essential to the definition of marriage.

If they choose different kinds of relationships, the public is under no obligation to lie about what marriage means in order to accommodate them.

[and they want to ensure you get no say in when and how you die.]

It's not dying we wish to forbid. It's killing.

[Yet it’s these very same people that argue that it’s the left that wants to restrict liberty. Amazing.]

We oppose killing (abortion, euthanasia) and we believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Neither is in any way an abrogation of human freedom.

Just to set the record straight on "consequence free sex"...

"In February 2013, CDC published two analyses that provide an in-depth look at the severe human and economic burden of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the United States.

CDC’s new estimates show that there are about 20 million new infections in the United States each year, costing the American healthcare system
nearly $16 billion in direct medical costs alone.
America’s youth shoulder a substantial burden of these infections." (.pdf)

KW, you are such a pathetic child.

  2. For conservatives “liberty” means only two things, guns, and the right to be bigots.

    1. No. Liberty means the Bill of Rights, and other God-given rights that we the people protect through the democratic process.

What exactly do you mean by "the right to be bigots"? Do you mean the right to work for a color-blind society?

[For some insane reason we treat our pets with more dignity at the end of their life than our fellow man in this country.]

Killing someone is treating him with dignity?

[Euthanasia should not be allowed for patients who request it?]

    Killing is inherently immoral.

["Darwinists" get accused of equating people with animals.]

    They do.

[Conservative Christians like Egnor are worse: they think humans are worth less than animals.]

The willingness to kill sick human beings would be a sign that we value humans more?

[You have to have a pretty high level of self-loathing and hatred of humanity to be a conservative Christian.]

But if we were willing to kill sick people, we'd have less "hatred of humanity"?

  4. Compared to those Belgian doctors, the inhuman scumbag and Christo-fascist Engnor himself most closely resembles Dr Mengele. Suffering is good, Jesus loves it, and we mustn't deprive Jesus of his divine right to make the dying process last as long as possible.

    1. I relieve suffering on a daily basis, troy. Killing is not the answer.

And Mengele was certainly pro-euthanasia. Notably, he lived out his last years in Argentina as an abortionist.

Troi, that was a well thought out, considered riposte. I'm impressed with your intellectual acumen.

And hey, who knows? You might need one of those harvested organs someday.

    3. "You might need one of those harvested organs someday."

He could use a functioning brain and some testicles.
      Maybe a spine transplant, too.
      Definitely a heart.
Yeah... I could see why he'd be all for depressed or otherwise healthy people "GOING HOME".

    4. Troi,

      "You are a pathetic coward."
Yeah. That's me, all right. Just ask anyone who knows me.
      Total chicken shit.
Man... I am so completely destroyed.

      Anyway...

"You're so afraid of your imaginary boss, you would deny others the freedom to decide their own time of death."
My boss is a 6'5" Scottish giant, and a confirmed misanthrope who would eat you for breakfast with his dentures out.
He would decide YOUR time of death, if you dared to loose that slack jaw of yours in his presence, Troi.
Oh yeah, and I can assure you: He is NOT imaginary - though there are many here who wish he was.
Personally, I kind of like the rusty old bayonet...from a safe distance.
Nice to know he is on my side, too.

...oh, sorry - you were alluding to the Creator of the Universe, weren't you? LOL!

Well, first off: He is not my 'boss', nor could He possibly be imaginary (unless you and everything else are too?).
Let me put it in the simplest of terms for you: I do not fear judgement by the Lord God for another man's suicide - unless I have driven him to it or somehow facilitated it.

Why is it that folks who enthusiastically support "euthanasia" tend to also argue against firearms because they are used for suicide?

And why require the "counseling" before injecting the poison?

If the materialists are right, it's not like the dead guys are gonna "regret making a mistake".

    1. Nobody is suggesting physician assisted suicide for healthy people simply suffering from depression. Those people will no doubt continue to rely on the American gun culture approved method of a shotgun or pistol in the mouth, thus forcing their family to go the horror of discovering their brains splattered on the wall.

My dearest ninja love god (KW), I fully understand you have the empathy of a stove bolt, but.... I think most of the blind and/or deaf people in this country would take great umbrage at your suggestion they are not "healthy". And, according to the article cited, that was all that was troubling these twins.

  6. Words are what bind us as a civilization. The use of language is a great historical tool to analyse the meaning and direction of a culture or broader civilization.
The direction our use of multiple languages are moving is indicative of an eastern trend. Put simply our language, and use/misuse of it, is indicative of a descent into barbarism.

I know many of the progressives will object and claim barbarians don't have Iphones.
Nonsense. The Nazis and Soviet should be example enough to counter such facile counters - and they are only recent examples.

These two men where killed over the objections of family. They were killed because the people who have made a medical industry out of MURDER have preyed upon their fears of going blind. Even as there are dozens of new technologies emerging that will correct or minimize blindness (even wet MD), medical sciences focus on KILLING off the 'useless eaters'.
    Barbarism. Plain and simple.
I hope the people behind these movements realize what their reward will be. I hope they understand what eventually happens to their kind.
May God forgive me for thinking it, but I hope I am there to see it.

    2. No KW. As usual you have mistaken my words for your own weird narcissistic / masochistic fantasies about God coming to get you for some pathetic transgression (sexual, by any chance?).
I do not suspect God will torture these people or their kind. I made no such inference of the divine.
I asked God to forgive me for wishing to witness another's downfall. It is a shameful instinct, and I am aware of that.
I was thinking of a far more temporal comeuppance. The standard one for maniacal bloodthirsty killers, torn from the pages of history.

"I guess making war against Muslims just wasn’t satisfying enough."
What a strange and childish view you have of warfare and it's players, KW.
I fought against AND alongside Muslims.

  7. You used a word incorrectly, so I fixed it for you.

“[Relieving physical/mental pain] is treating him with dignity?”

    Yep.

"[Relieving physical/ mental pain] is inherently immoral.”

    Nope.

“The willingness to [relieve physical/mental pain] would be a sign that we value humans more?”

Whoa, hold on, that’s asking too much of conservative Christians. I’d be happy if their morality was up to the point that they valued humans at all. We can work on more later.

  8. Anon - Why do you equate 'relieving physical/mental pain' with killing? We don't equate them. Relieving physical/mental pain is a good thing and we do it all the time. Without killing.
