Killing unarmed black people is ok when it's the elites doing the killing and there's nothing to be gained politically by objecting

Ester Goldberg makes a point I had been thinking about. Why is there no outrage about the killing of Miriam Carey, the unarmed mentally troubled woman who was gunned down by police in Washington D.C. after she crashed her car into a security barrier near the White House?

Did they have to shoot her? She was stopped in her car, unarmed, with a baby in the back seat. She was shot so many times that her family was only allowed to see photographs to identify her.

Why kill her?

And why has there been no media outcry from the Trayvon Martin lobby?

The reason is obvious. There was no political hay to make from her death, so they don't give a shit.

N.B. As Gateway Pundit at the second link notes, they filled this unarmed woman with holes, but the same folks called off a tactical team that was ready to stop the Navy Yard mass shooting.

'Serve and Protect', sort of.

  1. Though it seems that they got awfully trigger happy, I still think the police did the right thing in this situation. Even so, more justifiable shootings have cause more righteous indignation among grievance mongerers before. It seems that facts usually don't matter in cases like this. What matters is skin color.

Popeye, you're right. They aren't equivalent. This incident is much, much worse. I don't think Ms Carey ever had an officer down on the ground bashing his head into the sidewalk.

      Who said they were "equivalent"?

[Anybody who thinks that Capitol Police responding within a stone’s throw of the capitol and a vigilante neighborhood watchman stalking a kid are equivalent needs to have their head examined.]

Carey had no stones to throw, and the only weapon she had was her car, which was stopped and blocked in by barricades and police cars.

They had her stopped. Unlike Zimmerman, the police faced no issue of immediate self-defense. Why not wait for her to surrender, or just open the car door and pull her out? Why kill her?

    3. KW, the facts of the case may be different. The facts of every case are different. Identical scenarios do not play themselves out. The point, however, is that racial grievance mongerers can make a big deal out of any racial minority being harmed by the police, regardless of the facts. Take Rodney King, for example.

You make it sound as if assaulting Zimmerman was acceptable because Zimmerman was supposedly "stalking" Trayvon Martin. He wasn't a neighborhood "vigilante" either. He was the neighberhood watch. He may have been a little overzealous, but he was trying to protect his neighborhood.

An unarmed woman gets shot to death in front of her child by the DC boot boys,KW asserts this is because the police are 'pussies' (ie cowards) that shoot unarmed people, and then he promptly suggests disarming the civilian population.
      Brilliant.

      Delete
    6. I guess they were pussies because they pumped a lot of hot lead into an unarmed woman. That was their idea of good police work. They reached for their guns as a first resort, not as a last resort.

I think that's kind of Egnor's point. You've basically admitted that the cops were out of line here. Now where is the Trayvon-level outrage?

How about this for a headline: Trigger happy cops blast unarmed African-American woman dozens of times while baby watches. Normally, I think the media might be interested in such a thing.

If the justice system is racist, it must biased in favor of Spanish-speaking brown men because that's what George Zimmerman is. More likely they simply looked at the facts of the case and determined that Zimmerman was acting within the bounds of self-defense as defined under Florida law.

Usually you libs are so sensitive about the right of the accused. I mean, he's no Tookie Williams. But doesn't he at least deserve a fair trial?

This was a tragedy, and it is a miracle the child wasn't shot to death.

The disgusting part is the complete silence from the gunloons and race hypesters. Think back to the Amadou Diallo shooting in NYC, and the scurrilous charges of racism, police brutality, and general hand-wringing that ensued. Unlike the Diallo shooting, there has been no indication whatsoever that this young woman made any move that might have been misinterpreted.

And Gateway Pundit's point was a good one... why stand down a tac team when you have an active shooter loose in a gun-free zone, then attack this unarmed woman with a fusillade of gunfire?

In an equally disgusting but vastly under-reported story, armed Park Rangers threatened and bullied tourists in Yellowstone:

[Pat] Vaillancourt was one of thousands of people who found themselves in a national park as the federal government shutdown went into effect on Oct. 1. For many hours her tour group, which included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park hotel under armed guard...

When finally allowed to leave, the bus was not allowed to halt at all along the 2.5-hour trip out of the park, not even to stop at private bathrooms that were open along the route.

    --- Newburyport Daily News

They had been caught staying at a beautiful site, the Old Faithful lodge, when the Obama Gestapo shut down the park on orders of Dear Leader. They were locked in the lodge by the Khakishirts and not allowed to view the geysers. As they were being escorted out of the park by an armed unit, the geezers attempted to take a few photos of bison on the way out. They were instantly accosted by a belligerent female officer and informed they could not "recreate".

As far as I can tell with a quick and dirty Goog, not a single MSM source carried that story. President Lackwit and his bootlicking cadres of Progressive totalitarians are attempting to turn this country into a police state.

  5. In a nation covered in checkpoints you can expect the frequency of events like this to increase. This woman was killed as if she were running a blockade in a war zone with a relaxed ROE.
The reaction we see here is a 'defuse'.
The same reaction we would see if a suspected car bomb ran into a check near an embassy or security zone (outside of Libya, apparently). The directive is to kill the driver before they are able to detonate.
Except this is not SWA, Iraq, or Africa and this was not a car bomb, and these are not soldiers guarding a safe zone or route.
This is the security state Americans have voted for (4x?). This is the 'barrycade' of hope and change were sick people are summarily executed in front of their kids for disobeying the new order.
    Don't you feel safer, comrades?

  6. USAToday reports that “Police then killed [nay, executed] the driver after she got out of her vehicle and tried to flee.”

Yes, she was behaving badly. But when the police killed her, she was on foot and no threat to anyone. Does anyone think that the right way to deal with people like this is to kill them on the spot?

I'd wrong presumed that she'd perished in a hail of gunfire when the Capitol Police were attempting to stop her car. Their "heroic" efforts earned them a prolonged "heartfelt and deeply meant" standing ovation from the entire House of Representatives which you can watch here.

Also, when I mentioned this to my MD, she commented that she too had presumed that Ms. Carey had perished in a hail of gunfire when the Capitol Police were attempting to stop her car, yet the doc remembered seeing footage of the car on the news and was puzzled why it wasn't riddled with bullets.

It's always a pleasure for me to read these little leftist rants, because I take some comfort that the American public, which has been egregiously dumbed-down by absurd Progressive educational "theories"... aren't really any dumber than the average leftist.

Just as soldiers are sent into wars started by crazy politicians (thank Heaven President Lackwit was outmaneuvered by Putin and failed to get his Syrian war), the police are at the beck and call of their commanders and the politicians that command them.

And the politicians that command them are a gang of the most arrogant elitists ever to foul the halls of the White House and Congress. It is they who get to define the rules of engagement for the police. And this gang of self-anointed "elites" have presided over out-of-control Secret Service agents stiffing whores in South America, illegal gunrunning to Mexican cartels, locking up elderly foreign tourists in national parks, murdering American citizens abroad with guided missiles, equipping local police departments with military armor and surveillance drones, NSA agents collecting private data on American citizens, IRS agents suppressing political speech, and EPA SWAT teams raiding tiny hamlets (pop. 7) in Alaska.

How stupid do you have to be to not recognize where all this is coming from: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the "Lightworker", "almost like God" President and his "elite" corps of "intellectual" enablers and bootlicking lackeys.

What president signed the Patriot Act into law and created the department of Homeland Security? What president thought Jeebus guided his decisions to go to war? Why yes, it was that deluded "born-again Christian " Republican alcoholic rich daddy's boy George W Bush.

And just a short follow-up, because I have a perfect example of that leftist, "elite" stupidity in action... Withe respect to the poor performance of American adults on basic problem-solving and life skills, Delores Perin, a Doktor Perfesser of Eddifycation and Pisschology at Columbia (Lackwit's Ivy alma mater, or so he claims), had this to say:

[T]he report [cited in comment above] provides a “good basis for an argument there should be more resources to support adults with low literacy.”

In other words, "WAAaaaaaaaah!!! Give us more money, money, money."

Fuck you, Dr Delores, and the half-dead political mule you rode in on. Those adults should have been given the skills while they were in public school. I teach a class in GED Math and occasionally as an adjunct. I see both ends: the dropouts and the college students. And in many cases, the college students are as ignorant as the dropouts.

In 2010, the National Center for Public Policy and Education wrote this:

Every year in the United States, nearly 60% of first-year college students discover that, despite being fully eligible to attend college, they are not ready for postsecondary studies. After enrolling, these students learn that they must take remedial courses in English or mathematics, which do not earn college credits.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is Progressive "elite" dogma at work in the American public education system. You may call it data.
