Opinions and musings on religion, philosophy, science, politics, and life from a conservative Catholic neurosurgeon.
Of course Sandra Fluke never claimed to be having sex so often she’s going broke. This is just another straw-man smear from the habitual liars on the right.-KW
That speaks volumes about the reading comprehension of whatever conservative blogger that came up with the poster. Needless to say, their intended audience didn't bother to check how accurate this misrepresentation is. What is surprising is that a man stupid enough to buy into this crap happens to be a neurosurgeon at a respectable hospital.
@anon:Right. Only people who agree with you are intelligent enough to practice medicine. So why don't you show us more of your normative intelligence?
When a neurosurgeon lacks reading comprehension, I think it's reason for concern. Here is Sandra Fluke's testimony before a congressional panel. Find there anything that can be misconstrued as "I have sex so often that I go broke buying birth control." Especially about "having sex so often," which seems to be the whole point of the stupid poster. Go ahead, make my day.
How much does she say contraception costs, per month, for someone like herself?
Dodging the question, Mr. Braveheart? Once again: Find Sandra Fluke's testimony anything that can be misconstrued as "I have sex so often that I go broke buying birth control." Especially about "having sex so often." Put up or shut up.
How much did Fluke say birth control costs people like herself, say on a monthly basis?
Another evasion. Can't expect anything other from a dishonest hack.
Here( http://www.conservativedailynews.com/2012/03/sandra-fluke-and-the-three-thousand-dollar-lie/)Fluke said that bc can cost a woman over $3000 during law school. That's $1000 per year. Birth control pills can be bought for $20 or less per month, so that must not be what she was referring to. IUD's etc are even cheaper. So she must have meant condoms. At 50 cents each, that's 2000 condoms per year, or almost 7 sexual encounters each and every day.Must be hard to sit in class.
That's pretty vile of you, Egnor. Imagine someone saying such things about your daughter. Doesn't that feel good?
If my daughter told the public that she needed $1000 worth of birth control per year, and she demanded that all Americans be taxed at gunpoint to pay for it so she could have it for free, I would understand if some of the people she was holding at gunpoint to fund promiscuity got a bit testy.
Wow, Michael Egnor claims that he would tolerate some political hack gratuitously calling his daughter a slut. I'll believe it when I see it. But whoever put this shameless poster is mistaken. Or, scratch that, willfully misleads people. Getting to an MD takes 4 years, not 3, so we are looking at $750 a year, not $1,000. The vast majority of oral contraceptives are sold at a price of $50 to $90 a month. The figure of $20 a month refers to out-of-pocket expenses with insurance. So Fluke's estimate is right on the money. In any event, the conservatives, instead of engaging Fluke's argument, have chosen to destroy her reputation by portraying her as a slut. They deserve to be treated with contempt.
Fluke's "argument"? That other people should be forced to pay the annual $1000 bill for her rutting? I would be disappointed if you treated me with anything but contempt.
"Getting to an MD takes 4 years, not 3"Fluke's a law student-- 3 years. Do work on that reading comprehension.
OK, it's three years, not four. My other points stand. Fluke's numbers are not out of whack. Conservatives are out to destroy her reputation. They (you included) deserve all the contempt they receive in the media. Bottom feeders.
Fluke publicly demands a thousand dollars a year from taxpayers to pay for her sex life, and you claim that conservatives destroy her reputation?
Instead of engaging Fluke's arguments, conservatives have chosen to focus on her character, intimating (as you just did) that she has inordinate amounts of sex. That's not even gutter politics. That's gossip politics.Ultimately, these tactics will be self-destructive. Though it might play well with aging white males like you, it hurts the GOP with the younger generations. Keep digging your own political grave, guys. It will be fun to watch.
If you're on the pill, it doesn't matter how often you have sex -- same cost. If you assume the lady pays for the condoms of her lovers, then it's a different story, but it takes a conservative to assume the lady pays for them in the first place. And who says Palin has been faithful to her husband? That's just an assumption. Given her unethical behavior, it seems more likely she has screwed quite a few others to achieve her goals. Probably sucked McCain's dick on several occasions.
Thanks for making the point of my post, troy.
Sandra Fluke: "Why doesn't our insurance cover female contraception, even when it's mandatory, even when we do pay for it (as a part of our compensation), even when it's being used for other medical effects, rather than the contraceptive ones? Why is letting 'some unelected government bureaucrat get in between you and you doctor' bad, but good when it's an employer or university administrator?"Mregnor: "Slut! Slut!"I'd ask if you have any shame, but the answer is abundantly, and sadly, clear.
