Why it's impossible to parody Tom Friedman

Friedman gets to heart of what Egyptians really need:

Egypt's Perilous Drift

... What is different about Egypt, though, is that it is bursting with talented young people who understand that Egypt needs an inclusive, long-term, sustainable plan for national renewal. And what they also understand is that those who say that the Arabs have tried everything — Nasserism, socialism, Communism, Baathism, liberalism and Islamism — but that nothing has worked, are wrong. There is one ism they haven’t tried: environmentalism. The only way Egypt and the other Awakening states will have sustainable democracies with sustainable economies is to elevate an environmental ethic to the center of political thinking.

Heh. Just what the Muslim Brotherhood needs. Get the spittle-flecked Jew-baiting clitoris-snipping crazies to join Greenpeace, and nirvana (Muslim-style) ensues.

Egypt's Islamists are already trying to craft effective solutions to global warming, by eliminating the CO2 exhaled by Jews.

Uh...it is? I think that's what they told us in 2011. The Muslim Brotherhood rode to power just as the skeptics said they would. The Brotherhood was always in the driver's seat. Anyone who thought they were starry eyed, reform-minded democrats was kidding themselves.

Egypt's inclusive, longterm, sustainable plan for national renew has three points.

    1. Implement Sharia Law. Sixty-four percent of Egyptians think it should be the only source of law.

    2. Fight a war with Israel. Sixty-one percent of Egyptians want to cancel the treaty between the two nations. That was always the source of resentment toward Mubarak. I got Sadat killed.

    3. Drive out all the Coptic Christians. They're already doing that.

  2. Do any Christians here have any constructive suggestions? Or are we going to be treated to the usual flood of hate? Any excuse to bash Muslims. It’s no wonder they hate you back.

      The Progressive Dictionary

bash: (to bash v) (1) the act of verbally describing a person or persons in realistic terms; to provide a complete verbal description of a person or persons, including undesirable qualities
"Discussing the tendency among Islamists to beat women and kill Jews is Muslim-bashing."
      (2) (archaic) the act of repeatedly or unmercifully striking another person with a blunt instrument or fists
"The girl was bashed to death by stones after her Afghan village trial for adultery."

    2. I thought KW was going to refute some of my points. I guess he can't.

Maybe Friedman and al-Gore can get them to recycle the rubble from the destruction of the ancient Buddhas of Bamiyan to resurface the road to the tasteful tourist trap that defaces the site of the Great Pyramid of Giza. You can get a camel ride there, you know. And a cheap knockoff scarab. It's all very sensitively done.

    4. We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.

Why? They're almost a sole source for nail bombs, and think about the innovative medical technology they've developed... Why, I read for the first time about "traumatic amputations" that were done near the medical complex in Boston.

No, we should do exactly what the Lackwit Administration is doing: sell them F-16s and Abrams tanks. In case the you-know-whos get uppity. That's what really makes sense. Oh, and more pruning shears for clitorectomies.

Oh, by the way, I just got a link to a fab new Islamic family values video. It's about "discipline in the family".

      Watch here.

Help sympathetic elements within that country to install a hereditary constitutional (of sorts) monarchy (with certain tolerant guarantees) that is both sympathetic to the West and and nations such as Jordan and the Kingdom of Saud. Such a power could be dealt with, as we would know and understand it's centre. An added bonus is that the Jihadi elements within Egypt would have an internal target and would be drawn out (internally).
Of course, this kind of move would require the kind of pragmatism that is sorely lacking in NATO currently. One can only hope.
Barring that solution, it may be advisable to aid separatist elements in Alexandria who would divide Egypt (upper/lower?), thus limiting it's potential as a regional player and force the Islamists into another Sudan like situation. Once again this would internalize their efforts reducing the regional impact of their influence.

  4. Eco-fascism! ... now there's the ticket for "sustainable democracies with sustainable economies"!
