Thanksgiving is family time

Seems that Wal-Mart and Target are opening on Thanksgiving Day, which of course screws the folks who work there and want to be with their families.

I'm normally a defender of businesses and I'm no fan of unions, but this is a really bad thing to do to workers.

Do we really need to shop for cheap sh*t on Thanksgiving Day?

Advice to Wal-Mart and Target management: give the workers the whole day off. There are things that are more important than the bottom line.

Big business is not our friend. I try to avoid Wal-Mart, Target, and other big chains. Whenever I need something I ask myself if I can find it somewhere else. It's getting more and more difficult as Wal-Mart et al. put the smaller ones out of business.

    Close the stores on Thanksgiving!!!

    2. The US is enslaved to big business - it's pathetic. In Europe far more people are self-employed and run small businesses. In no small part thanks to universal healthcare. Shops here are usually closed on Sundays, required by law. In Germany they're even closed on Saturday afternoon thanks to the powerful unions - which is good for business in Holland. Germans are all over my town on Saturday afternoons.

    3. Ah...that European superiority I've heard so much about. That was really the purpose of your comment, wasn't it Troy?

Troy, it sounds as if some Christianist theocrats are legislating their morality over there. What if someone wants to open their store on Sunday?

Big Business is powerful the whole world over. Europe, America, China, Japan, no exceptions. You should love multinational corporations since they bankroll Planned Parenthood and homosexual organizations, plus the Obama campaign.

I think you forgot your tin foil hat, Joey.

    5. I wonder what the tin foil hat remark was referring to. Do you not believe that big business is bankrolling PP, the homosexual lobby, and the Obama campaign?

I agree with Pepe. Trish's comments are some of the most insightful. She is obviously a smart chick.
