'Never mind about that global warming...'

The Met Office-- the leading climate scientists who were the source of the Climategate emails-- has very quietly released a report that global warming stopped 16 years ago:

Global warming stopped 16 years ago, reveals Met Office report quietly released... and here is the chart to prove it

The figures reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012 there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures
This means that the ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.
This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years...

Translation: A "pause" in global warming means "no" global warming.

I guess the Met Office public relations firm that hyped every scary apocalyptic scenario these guys could conjure for the past two decades was on vacation this October, and couldn't issue the usual hysterical press release.

Of course the quiet release of this data has nothing to do with the fact that it discredits years of hysterical apocalyptic claims.

These people are such crooks.

  1. They became an unreliable source the moment they came out with this. The real reliable source here is that Phil Jones. He lies and destroys his own data so no one can see it.

  2. Egnor the clown strikes again. Even the Met office themselves have already debunked Egnor's claims. But what else could you expect from a pathological liar?
